  Um yeah, that seems like a huge deal. At our clinic you have to take a 2 hour seminar given by the doctors before you do IVF.

  we actually had a FEW meetings before jumping in to any protocol... had to get a bunch of testing out of the way etc. wow, that seems quick.

  That seems odd.  I've been working with my RE since last May and even though we've met several times to discuss IVF (including what was supposed to be a IVF consult in December) we still have to go through our official consult.  I would definitely ask for one!

  I just switched to him so I am wondering if I covered a lot of it there. I do think I want to know more indepth about the protocol that he chose and why.

  At my IVF consult my doctor sat with me and DH and went through all of my medical history, discussed all of the testing that had been done and ordered all of the tests that had not been completed yet, went over all of our options (IVF with PGD, ISCI...) there is SO much more to IVF then I thought I knew.  I also switched RE's and luckily had had an HSG within 3 months of my new appt so I didn't have to repeat that.  Basically, blood work, AFC (antra-folli count) where they count how many follicles you have on CD 1-3, the person in charge of billing came in to discuss all of the packages that the office has, most importantly my doctor had a lot of time to sit and answer any questions we had.  If I were you I think I would schedule the appointment.  It can't hurt to get to know your doctor better and get all of your questions answered!!!!

  2nd and last IVF cycle August 2015, stimmed for 12 days, 2 egg retrieved, both mature and both fertilized.  Transferred both 8-cell embryos on Day 3, beta 9/5/15 = BFFN

  We had a consult before our first cycle and again now that we are doing a second one (which is a totally different protocol because our first cycle was a total failure). I am on HGH for this second cycle that starts later this month. I have diminished reserve and we believe my (limited) eggs are of poor quality.

  Did they prescribe HGH with your first cycle? If so, that is interesting (unless you have already been diagnosed with certain issues, then it could be very helpful). Good luck to you!

  I would absolutely ask for a consult. Ivf involves a lot of steps and you want to have someone go over all of it with you. As for testing they did an ultra sound to check my ovaries and a mock-transfer to make sure there wasn't any issues with my cervix.
  
  I have HCG on my med list for IVF, it is a one time shot used to trigger the release of your eggs for retrieval.

   

  DD conceived after 3 years of ttc.

  MFI - DH had varicocele repair and took Clomid to get DD b. 02/2010

  TTC #2 since 6/2010
  10/2012 DH diagnosed with Epilepsy
  A few failed IUIs summer 2012 and 2013. 
  DH taking clomid and waiting to see if he needs another vericocele repair. 
  Hoping for a 2015 baby or babies.
