Trying to Get Pregnant

what dpo will you test on?

Just wondering when everyone is planning on taking thier pregnancy test for those in the tww. I think i will start at 10 dpo...but maybe thats a little early. What dpo will you test on?

Re: what dpo will you test on?

  • I do not test until 12 DPO. Because that's my average luteal phase and because that gives HCG enough time to build in my system if I implant late:

Although maybe I'm cynical because I don't ever expect a positive and don't want to waste money testing.

  • Yea i will only use the wondo ones on 10 dpo...probably wont use my first response until 12 dpo..
  • Yes i test frequently bc in the back of mind i just think you never know...but i know most likely i wont see a bfp until like 10 or 11 dpo...i hate the waiting and worried about being disappointed. ..this is our first cycle ttc after a miscarriage in January. Hoping for a good result!
  • I usually started around 9 or 10 DPO
    Thank God for Raid.

  • I really really like to test.  When I was ttc my first, I always started on 10 dpo.  It worked at 10dpo for my miscarriage pregnancy and my 1st baby pregnancy.  So, when I was ttc again, I started at 7 dpo, just to see when exactly I would get a line.  I was also taking opks to see if an opk would turn positive before the hpt.  I got a line on the hpt in the evening of 9 dpo (I didn't test in the morning because of a temp drop).  I had testing negative in the morning of 8 dpo.  At that point my opk did have a line, but it was definitely not dark enough to be positive.

Anyway, when I start TTC again, I will probably start testing again at 7dpo because negative tests do not bother me and I get the tests for cheap.  I like to see how early I can get it to turn. lol.

Hi, you used opk at 7-10 dpo? I am new so could you please explain the concept please , how does it relate to htp?

The theory is that is another LH surge at the begining of pregnancy.

@mrskal and @PugsandKisses no, it's that lh and hcg are very similar. Opks pick up hcg too and will be positive when you are pregnant. The problem is that opks pick up lh and hcg. So if you have a positive one you won't know why. Also, opks will take another few days to turn positive after the hpt turns positive. As I learned from my experiment.

    My TTC History:
    2009: missed miscarriage #1 at 9 weeks (trisomy 16)
    2010: Infertility
2011: Diagnosis and treatment (low sperm count, anastrozole for DH, clomid for me + IUI)
    2012: Baby #1
    2014: Baby #2
October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)
    March 2016 BFP#5, due November 2016.

  • @mrskal I am trying to attach my tests from 2013. Hpts are pink. Opks are blue. You can see the opk got darker, but not positive.

10 DPO was a BFN for me this cycle but I'm still a week a way from AF so it was really a bit of a stretch, just thought I'd test the waters based on a little bit of inspiration in this thread ... No harm, no foul! Good luck ladies!
    28, DH - 30
    Married 10/04/14
    TTC since 1/1/15
    BFP 5/28/15
    MC 6/9/15
    BFP#2 9/21/15 - EDD 5/20/16
    Lilypie Maternity tickers
  • I know it is later than most but, I have decided to wait until 20dpo that way AF is completely missed rather than just late. I figure that way a can trust that a negative is a negative and not just me testing too early.
  • I tested today 7dpo (of course BFN) because it's my first cycle trying and I was honestly just excited to take my first test even though I knew it'd be negative either way.

Will probably continue testing every other day this time around just for fun - in the future I will scale back and implement some more self control but I'm giving myself this first cycle to go hog wild with testing and get it out of my system!

Are you at least using dollar store tests?
