When is the right time to start shopping for my baby ?!?!

This is my first child and ill be 26 weeks tommorow I want to start shopping for her but don't know when's the right time! My mother keeps telling me to wait until after the baby shower because you never know what people are willing to get you but I just don't want to be overwhelmed with so much in one month ... Any suggestions ???

    Go shopping if you want. Try to get things you didn't register for. Keep receipts in case you get duplicates at your shower.
    If you decide to wait until after your shower then do your shopping on line. That way you can do it from the comfort of your couch and everything will be delivered to your door.

    Try to buy things other people won't. If it's something you would buy for a baby shower gift just try to wait. Your mom is right you will get a lit at your shower and will have a better idea of what you need after.

    I've limited my shopping to things that I wouldn't expect to get at a shower (car seat, stroller) and things that you can't have too many of (basic onsies).

    I have been shopping since last June (I know a bit premature). Mainly what I have been buying is decor for the nursery and most nursery big ticket items like changing table and crib. I chose to buy my decor cause my theme is koalas so not an easy thing to find at target. But think of what will probably not be bought and buy that.

    Each paycheck I've been buying a couple of items. Like this last paycheck I bought a small pack of diapers (had a $2.50 coupon), sheet, little mittens, a cotton blanket and a few rompers. I set up Amazon Prime for diapers and wipes for every other month delivery.

    I pretty much have everything I need for baby and I'm 26 weeks. But it's baby #5 for me so I know what I need. And I'm not having a shower. I would go ahead and set up a shower registry and just shop for whatever you think you won't get at the shower or stuff you don't put on there. Why not shop? It's part of the fun!!!

    I would shop for fun things like clothes, hats, etc if you see stuff you really like. You might want to wait to buy the baby "gear" until after your shower to see what you get. You can always return things if you get too much of one particular thing. The gear isn't as fun to buy anyway so wait and see what you get and then buy what you really need. I ended up exchanging a lot of stuff I got after my shower that I decided I didn't necessarily need and put the store credit towards bigger items.

    Just don't wash the clothes yet, and save your receipts so if you get tons, you can always return excess and doubles!

    Whenever you are comfortable! I've been buying since around 10 weeks but just mainly little things until more recently. I'm waiting until after the babyshower to buy most other things at this point.

    Start buying diapers. Never too early for that.. Just remember they won't be in newborn size anything for long. I am having twins and started buying stuff when it is on sale.. And I have several packages of diapers. I will buy other stuff after the shower..

    Most people don't buy you big stuff .I would start buy big stuff need so ur not overwhelmed with having to buy everything after baby shower

    Start shopping if you have the money but as many said most big stuff you might have to buy you might want to ask your family if they plan to buy any big things. I've been picking up things only if I see a super good deal that way if I need to I can resell it and maybe even make money off it Lol And i already got most of the big things also at big discounts. Other then that I'm waiting till after the baby shower.

    We bought big items like cribs, dresser, rocker, and all the nursery decor. It's so hard to resist all the baby stuff especially being a FTM.

    We're buying basically everything for the nursery like crib, dresser, glider, curtains, rug (if needed).

    I just saw the cutest Little Me onesies that would be perfect for our summer man here in Florida, and I'm dying to buy them! My mom gave me a big deal about not buying anything until after the shower, because of superstitions of anything happening to our little guy.

    How many of you actually bought the cute onesies you've seen?? I've ONLY bought his coming home outfit.

    I have bought a few clothes... Mostly because I just can't resist... And I have a pretty nice collection of bows because I am just in love with bows.... I do want to add that the Little Me brand baby clothes is really top notch quality.... Check stores like TJMaxx because they have it all the time for cheap!

    I started shopping sortly after I found out, I bought a lot of summer clothes that were on clearance.

    Im 30 weeks on thursday and Im only missing a couple things like my diaper bag which my MIL bought for my shower ( shower is next friday)

    However I have been known to go 3-4 weeks early and feel 30 weeks is a good time line to have the basics all set up and ready.
