Comfortable seating position during 9th month

any suggestions on how to sit? I'm at a loss! Can't put feet up or slouch or recline according to doc. What do I do?

Re: Comfortable seating position during 9th month

  • That's odd if your doc told you not too put your feet up feet up keeps swelling down If I'm uncomfortable I sit up in my bed with a bunch of pillows behind me so that I'm almost sitting straight up and have my feet straight out and sometimes have feet on a pillow and I do all my work on computer while sitting like this

  • And why can't you recline? Is baby breech? If baby isn't in position I have heard many a great things about sitting on a exercise ball, can you lay left side in your couch?
  • Best sitting position (doula, doc, and spinning babies instructor approved) is to keep your knees below your hips and make sure your hips can rock a bit. Also imagine your belly button as a flashlight; it should always point forward or down.

So if you sit cross legged, sit on a pillow so your bum is higher.

If you're sitting on, say, an office chair, roll a pillow or towel front to back and sit on that so your hips can still pivot. Jack te chair up so that your knees are lower.

For the couch or chair, invest in a pillow fort. Usually takes 2-3 full size bed pillows and 3-4 small throw pillows to get and keep me all supported but it's damn comfortable. Under bum, behind back, etc.....

And your doc is right! No slouching (cuz it can hurt/be uncomfortable), no reclining (baby can move. You want it to be LOA) and feet should be lower than hips.

Basically imagine sitting on a yoga ball, but that it won't roll out from under you.
