Swollen hands/feet/ and glands??

i just called the doctors office waiting on a return call...
I have had slight swelling for the last 3 days but nothing alarming, just run of the mill preggo cankles and in the evening my rings were tight. Nothing crazy for 32 weeks.
But then this morning I woke up to painful pins and needles in my hands, obvious to me swelling in my hands, and my feet are obvious to a blind person swollen (and kind of hurt??) And my glands are swollen and my throat hurts.
Any at home remedies till the nurse calls back or thoughts?
I searched "swelling" "swollen" and a few others before I posted and the responses were all old from when ppl were 15/20 weeks..

Re: Swollen hands/feet/ and glands??

  • A bath with Epsom Salt helps me with the swelling. Good luck!

  • Drink plenty of water and prop your feet up. Swelling during pregnancy can be normal but it can also be a symptom of preeclampsia which shouldn't be taken lightly. If it's really bothering you, I'd definitely take a visit to L&D to be checked.
  • Thank you! Still waiting on the docs office to call back, in the mean time feet are up and Epsom soaking has begun... I have to drive out of town tonight for my shower in my hometown tomorrow (not to far an hour 1/2) just hope this isn't anything serious
  • Proper your feet up, loads of water, hold hands above your head for about 5 minutes. My great aunt swore eating raw Potato helps and it actually did with me. Some of those crazy farm house remedies are right on the money. Did you eat something really salty last night? I had chips and salsa over the weekend and blew up.
  • My hands and feet are swollen and painful. i never had this with my previous pregnancies. However, my doctor  said as long as my blood pressure stays low and no protein in the urine than it is just a normal part of pregnancy. It said it does not even have to do with eating salt. His only recommendation was compression stockings, rest, and elevation.
  • Just got back from the doc, blood pressure and sample were all good, my veins and joints are all visible in my hands (they don't look like sausages yet), he said just plain pregnancy swelling. Feet will be up as much as possible here on out. Thank you for all the replies,
  • Glad everything came back looking good
  • I found a large old stuffed Dalmatian dog that was my sisters at my parents, between that a good stuff pillow I've been able to elevate my feet pretty high while sleeping, it helps tremendously! Hands are still swollen so no ring for me (teased my husband and told him I was going out on the town without my ring on he better watch out:) but to quote the doc, as long as they don't look like sausages and you can still see the veins we're ok
  • I was reallllly swollen, and a friend suggested adding fresh lemon to my water... It has been my cure! I'm still swollen, but nowhere near as uncomfortable as I was. I can bend my ankles!
