Daddy gift?

i came across a blog that mentioned a daddy gift? Something like a personal keepsake for dad on the big day, has anyone else done this? He will be just returning from overseas and everything will be such a whirlwind but I wouldn't mind getting him a little something special, any thoughts?

  • After 2 DD's, holding his DS for the first time, is the best gift I could ever think of. My DH is all set on this front.
  • Baby is the main gift of course but if you wanted to do something else I would recommend something personalized. I think there are some books out there where you can substitute baby and dad's name in the book. I'm not sure if that is something he would like but it sounds cute to me. I think there are also personalized deployment childrens books too.
  • With my first I gave my husband a written letter about how life was going to change but know that I will always love him...I think he enjoyed it but I always tend to send him little notes!:)
  • I'm in the same boat. My husband is coming overseas so the $2000 to get him home and everything will be a lot already. Plus his birthday is almost the due date. I'm going to try to get him some sort of keepsake but money wise it won't be anything extravagent
  • He gets a baby and some new pajamas for our stay at the hospital :)

  • Honestly, never heard of a daddy gift and I have been an OB nurse for close to10 years ha ha- mama gifts definitely!
  • I ordered my husband a onesie that says "daddy's little camper". I know our first few weeks at home are going to be stressful so I wanted him to be able to look forward to the trip we have planned this summer. I also plan to include a 6-pack and a large bag of coffee!! ;)
  • I'm buying my husband "it's a girl" cigars to pass out to his buddies! I know he will love it.
  • @spiva847 thanks for reminding me! I forgot I wanted to do that!
  • With our first, I got my husband some books about "daddy" to read with our son. Then I have him some money to spend getting beers with the guys since money was going to be tight. I wanted to give him something sentimental and something fun.
  • I got him a t-shirt from www.daddyncompany.com to wear at the hospital. It's wrapped and in the hospital bag. They have daddy scrubs, hats, shirts, and all kinds of other goodies that are just too adorable!
  • Love the ideas! Definitly doing the book, just hope I can get one in time:) and the onesie
  • I plan on doing something, I'm not sure what yet. But I want to do something. He's not a sentimental type guy AT ALL. I was thinking about maybe just doing a labor survival kit type thing?
  • I've been thinking about this too dh calls me his queen and when he talks to my belly he calls her his princess so I'm thinking about shirts that day king, queen and princess idk
  • I'm planning on some cute and simple "I Love Daddy" onesies once baby is here and we know the gender. I've been checking on Etsy for more creative stuff for his first Father's Day.
  • @houser1406 I've been checking pinterest for his first father's day omg so much to choose from
  • I'm unfortunately letting my husband get a tattoo for the baby. He wants a half sleeve. I personally am just not into them but since it'll be for our baby I can kind of accept it. So that'll be his $700 daddy gift. X_X

I saw something online that was a daddy survival kit. It had a baby book for daddy/baby time. A bag of hugs and kisses "because mommy and baby will need plenty of these". Some of his favorite snacks "for late nights up"...it was super cute! If i wasn't spending $350 on daddy's gift, I was going to do that. But I know hubby would like a watch better, so it'll be his Father's Day/new daddy gift

  • Lol my bf doesn't wear watches or any sort of jewelry for that matter! I wish cos I love men's watches. And I don't like the idea of a shirt for him with something "cute or clever" on it and he would never wear it not even during the whole labor process. It'd go in a drawer and stay there as soon as we got home lol. He's not a very sentimental guy. So I figured something he will use during the laboring process will be best. I might do like a money clip with the day she's born engraved since that will get used for sure
