WWMD? Csection and tubes tied

We just found out at 19 weeks that we are having twins. We already have a 2 year old son, and always said we were done after 2 kids (now it will be 3 kids), so I am contemplating getting my tubes tied if I end up with a csection with the twins (I am going to ask my doctor how likely that chance is). One issue is the hospital I am delivering at is a Catholic Hospital, so they will not do it, and would set me up to go to the womens hospital after delivery for it to be done. I dont see the point, if I am already open from the csection, getting it done later. So we are considering changing hospitals. The women's hopsital is very renowned, but also delivers a ton of babies (11,000 a year), compared to the hospital I am set to deliver that is small and I had a great experience with with my son. Just wondering what other moms would do.

I would personally switch hospitals because who wants to go through being opened up twice!  That or convince my husband to get a vasectomy :)

I had my tubes tied at the time of my section and would absolutely 100% do whatever it took to make sure I was in a hospital that would perform the tubal. Switch!

Thanks everyone for your opinions. They both have top rated, Level 3 NICUs so thats not a concern of mine.

I would absolutely switch if it meant not having to be opened up twice. I had my tubes tied during my c/s and would not have done it any other way. DH would have had a vasectomy if I was able to have a vaginal birth - that was decided on day 1. When I learned I was having a c/s due to breach position I opted to have the tubal.

I would definitely switch hospitals.  Our plan is to have my tubes tied if I end up with a c-section.  Chances are I won't get pregnant without IVF, as I have never before, but I don't want to take that chance.

I would switch too. One of the few times that having a bilateral tubal ligation makes the most sense is during the c/s. But, you will be a little more sore for the next few days, so have lots of help lined up!

You could look into Essure for you or vasectomy for him in the 6 weeks after your delivery as well.

Uh...why even consider two surgeries! If they both have the NICU and you're dr delivers at both go to the other one.
