Matilda nn Tilly?

What do you think of Matilda with the nickname Tilly? I'm definitely a nickname person, and I don't like the idea of "Mattie" as a nickname... Does Tilly make sense? Is Tilly too cutesy that it doesn't even work as a nickname?

My dogs name is Matilda and we tend to call her Matildie, obv she is not a human so it's a bit different. Isn't Matilda ok on its own?

I love Matilda. I don't think it needs a nickname at all. Tilly is sweet though and could work easily as a nickname. I wouldn't side eye it.

Tilda could be another option.

Thanks for the thoughts! I love the suggestion of Tilda for a nickname too.

I should clarify, also, that when I say "nickname", I don't mean a nickname like the way Dan is short for Daniel or Sam is short for Samuel, and everyone just uses the nickname. I just like to have a "pet" name for family to use.

I do love Matilda as a name as a whole. I think it makes a cute little girl name and an elegant adult name.

Yes, I was also thinking if Tilly as a pet name for the family to use, not an official nickname. In that way it's sweet and endearing.

I love it! There was a Tilly in my sons preschool last year and I loved it! I think her full name was Matilda! You could also call her Millie! Love love love.

My dog's name is Matilda. My mom and dad all call her Tilly but most of the time I call her Matilly.

I love the name though and if I hadn't named my dog Matilda when I was 12, I would totally have it on my list now!

I think 'Tilly' is cute. But I have an Great-Aunt Mathilda, and everyone naturally gravitated toward calling her 'Hilda' or 'Hildy.'

I love Matilda, I'm not a huge fan of the NNs that come with it so I'm not liking Mattie OR Tilly, but Matilda is beautiful and reminds me of the children's book which I think is a good association.
