Probiotics

I searched and didn't find anything posted on this. The PA I saw recommended I take probiotics at my last visit but didn't specify brand or how many strains. She just said OTC and not mega or ultra. I took probiotics pre-pregnancy but they were ultra. Anyone have any recommendations? TIA!

Re: Probiotics

  • Hmmm... Well maybe check with your Pharmacist. Last pregnancy I had BV and was started on abx, my Pharmacist recommended the probiotics and/or just regular yougart.

  • Culturelle Is a good middle of the road probiotic. I normally do that one I just started a new one a couple of days ago to reboot. RAW probiotics for women by Garden of life. I will only take these until the end of the bottle though. It has 85 billion live cultures 32 probiotic strains. Culturelle has 10 billion active cultures but only 1 strain I think.
  • I take pB8 - they sell it at whole foods and on Amazon. I've taken it for the last two years and continued when I got pregnant.
  • I've been taking multidolphilous and it's helped with constipation. MD said it was fine, yogurt is ok and it has probiotics.

  • I wish I enjoyed yogurt more. There is just something about the texture that I can't handle...

    Thanks again for the input!
  • Bio K--available at Whole Foods in the herbal section in a fridge. They're little shots of super yogurt. A bit pricey, but it's good stuff.
  • There is only one brand that I know of that makes a product tailored for pregnant and nursing women - it’s called Hyperbiotics PRO-Moms and it’s great. I have been taking it for months per my doctor's recommendation and am a huge fan.
  • Interesting I take ultra but I only take one a day not the up to three a day they say you can work towards. I also drink goat milk kefir.
