need help

Up with my 2 1/2 yr old since 4am shes been throwing up and its now 8:02. I feel so helpless and bad for her...left a message for her dr. But havent heard back yet :/

Any advice would be great....Im trying to get her to drink some water but all she wants to do is lay there and hold her sippy cup :/ which is understandable. I wish this would just go away

Re: need help

  • Is she peeing?  When my child had the stomach flu, the doc told me that a dry diaper for more than 12 hours was a direct trip to the ER.  Granted, she was 5 months old at the time.  Hope she feels better soon.

She didnt have one when she woke up at 4 but had plenty during the day before she went to bed last night...I just feel so helpless. Hopefully the nurse calls me back soon considering I called over an hr ago
  • Praying for u both , I hope she feels better soon!
  • Try giving her juice...might be more incentive for her to drink and get fluid in. Also, popsicles
  • Any news from the doc? Get some Gatorade or pedialyte. Give her a tablespoon full every 20 minutes. If she keeps it down, give a little more! I agree tho, 2 wet diapers during the day is a good sign, any less, and she's become dehydrated. Don't push food. She'll eat when she's ready!

sorry I have not responded!!! I am just seeing this...she had a really bad stomach virus.

    I had to follow a 24hr plan
wait until she hasn't thrown up for at least an hr
then start 4hrs of pedialyte 5ml every 5 min.
then if no throw up then the next 4hrs 10ml of pedalyte every 5 min

then if no throw up then she can only have brat diet foods for 24 hrs. It was pure HELL but it worked great and she is now 3 nights in a row sleeping through the night!! CROSSING MY FINGERS I didn't just jinks it
  • Oh, I feel for you, mama! My 2 and a half year old just finished up his stomach bug last week, then got hit the next day with an (unrelated) ear infection.  I feel your pain.  Hang in there!!

  • My son came down with a nasty stomach virus today. Luckily, he felt better after about 8 hours. Still not eating a ton but is keeping fluids down.
  • My son just had a stomach bug last week. Luckily it was a 24 he thing. Puking in the middle of the night is the worst. Glad your daughter is feeling better now.
