Water Breaking Stories

hi I'm 40+3. Still waiting, no signs of labor coming anytime soon the only thing I'm hoping starts it all is my water breaking. Could any STM's or recent FTM's share their water breaking stories? How they felt right before it happened? What they were doing? Thanks everyone :-)

Re: Water Breaking Stories

  • my water never broke - they had to do it in hospital. my first signs were period-like cramps, and a sudden desire to reorganize all the furniture in the house... waters breaking are rarely as dramatic as in the movies! sometimes i have heard it's just like - did i just pee myself? which at this point... is a valid question... :\">

Lol definitely, I do that now and then thinking it could possibly be my water breaking but it's just pee hahaha
  • My water broke with my first at 37w4d. I had just went to the bathroom and got back in bed. I felt a little leak and thought I just peed myself a little so I got up and went to the bathroom. My water broke right when I got to the tile.

  • @ashleyaprile lol that's pretty interesting you made it all the way to the hospital before gushing, congratulations on your second baby and thanks for sharing.
  • Funny story. Earlier in the day i told my husband that membrane ruptures arent as common as people think and more than likely the doctor will break mine.
At 2 am i got up to use the bathroom. When i got to bed i couldnt get comfy and i was crampy. I felt wet in the vagina but i did have sex earlier so i thought nah, its semen. Began to doze off and bam a huge gush. Sat up, told husband and tried to find a sneaky way to my bathroom without a pool. Sat on the toilet for 45 minutes gushing left and right then went to the hospital.
  • My water broke with both babies.

Dd1: Broke as i was walking out of Shoneys (i was literally looking at hospital across street as it happened) I felt a small release and told my husband i had to go to the bathroom. As i squated over the toilet, it gushed out. Then i stood up, it gushed again. It kept coming out and I did not know what to do. My hubby had my phone. I finally stuffed my panties with toilet paper and walked out. It definitely was a movie worthy water break. I was 39w 3d.

Dd2: i was dreaming about being on rocks in the river with waterfalls. My water broke, gushed out, and woke me up from the dream. I knew immediately what had happened. I was 37w 5d. I had felt off the couple of days before so I wasnt surprised when it happened.

My husband's reaction both times was "are you serious?"
  • My water broke with my 2nd and it was pretty exciting. I was at DD1's two yr well-check and we had just finished the appt, as I stood up to leave my water broke and it was a huge, obvious gush. My mom was there and was freaking out and all the nurses were excited. Everyone in the waiting room heard about it so when we were walking out everyone was yelling "good luck!". She was 9 days late so I was very ready but I had no contractions or anything leading up to it.

  • What do you mean when you says you've felt "off"? Like tired, depressed, sick, confused?
