We have started asking our parents what they want their grandparent names to be. For those of you with kids, what do they call your parents? Grandma and Grandpa? Nana and Papa?
We have a grandma and a grandpa (my parents) and Nana and Papa (Dh's parents). My nephew was the first grandchild, so my parents got Grandma and Grandpa. We asked DH's parents what their preference was, advising them that we had a grandma and grandpa already, and they chose Nana and Papa
My hubby's parents are grandma and grandpa, my parents are divorced so we have Mama Lucy, Papa Joe abd Grandma Suzie. My grandparents my kids great-grandparents are Nani and Papa
I let my son choose with my mom and then his dad mom, he calls my mom Ma and his dad's mom by her name. He knows that's his grandma and will sometimes refer to her as grandma but he hardly sees her she lives in mexico now. With my second I think it will be grandma and grandpa with my boyfriends parents and Ma with my mom.
My parent will be Nana and Chief. His mom will be Noni (her name is Joni so it's a Grandma-fied version of that) and his Dad will be Pop. His step-mom has not much to do with us, so she will simply be Sheila.
We have Nann and Pop (my mum and step dad), Granny and Poppa (inlaws), Nana and Grandad or Grumps (my 1st step dad and his wife)
We also have another set that have yet to met DS :S No idea what they want to be called. (that's my biological father and his partner)
DH is adopted so potentially there are more grandparents out there!!
Broken families make so many grandparents!!

We use Grandma and Papa for my step daughter. But I called my great grandmother GG and my grandma BooBoo. Your kids may come up with their own names for them. I have a friend who's niece called her grandmother Chocolate Milk. They couldn't get her to change so they went with it.
MIL is Savta/Safta it's the Hebrew word for grandma. I don't know what FIL will be, probably just pop pop, or papa. And my parents are just grandma and grandpa, they have 12 grandkids already so that's what they've always been.
My parents go by Nana and Granddaddy, and my father in law wants to go by Grumpy. My Mother in law, however, wants to go by....Dutchess....it's awful!! Talk about narcissistic! We'll see how long that lasts I suppose.
My parents had names picked out and my daughter completely made up her own. My mom wanted to be Granny and my daughter calls her "Mom-mommy". She learned that it's mom's mommy, so that's basically what she calls her. We don't love it, but it's special since she came up with it on her own. My dad went from wanting to be Poppy to being called "Pap-pap". Sometimes you just can't plan it:-)

We had the tradition of naming grandparents 'Mama' or 'Daddy' and then their name. But because I was the first, all those plans changed to fit around what I could actually say. So I ended up with a Papa and a Wheezy (for 'Mama Louise'). Now we just kind of let the grandchild pick whatever they can say.

This is the greatest thing I've read on the bump EVER!! Dutchess?? That is so hilariously narcissistic, lmao.
I didn't even know dutchess was an option! Ooooh when my sis has a kid I will not be auntie - I'm gonna be Your Majesty! lol My sis is Auntie Peaches.
My mamma wants Nana Paula, my dad's not very frequently in the picture. My fiancee already had kids so his family already has it worked out to Grandma Sue, Grandpa Kaczmarski (grampa K) and Grandpa Marik.
@MamaOwl15 same situation for us when our DS was born there were already 4 nephews calling my parents grandma and grandpa. He was the first for dh's side so we asked his parents what they wanted and they chose nana and papa. I think The most unique ones I have heard with my own family or friends is a cousins daughter who calls her grandma "ya-ya". The other is a friend whose kids call their grandpa "g-dub".
We will probably jus be Grandma/Grandpa and then their first name. I keep trying to get my mom to go by "Nana Lou Lou" since her nickname is Lou . But don't think it'll happen. Lol
I had grandmama, papa ted, papa Von and Grammy. My hubs has Grammy and grandma. Neither of our moms personality or ages match "grandma" and neither of them want to be called Grammy. So I hope that our kids come up with something that will stick. So far we don't have anything.
My parents are Sunny and MartyMac (last name starts with Mc). My mom used to sing you are my sunshine to my nephew all the time. That's where she got her name. My friend's parents are Lolli and Pops to her kids and I love it!!
My Mother-in-law is Ahma, she already has 2 grandkids from my sister-in-law. My parents have decided they want to be Nana and PopPop. No idea what my father-in-law and his wife are going to be... My husband was mad my dad wanted to be PopPop because that is what HIS grandfather went by. My grandfather was Pop also.. I told him to get over it. Or they can be PopPop Alan and PopPop Jack. That would be fine with me.
