2nd Trimester Victories!

How many of you are feeling the buzz of the second trimester?

I don't know if it was because it was 70 degrees by me today but I'm super pleased to announce that today I actually didn't feel so bad. I didn't feel like the bag of $hit I have been feeling like since January and instead of craving brown sugar Pop Tarts for breakfast, a blueberry almond milk smoothie took its place. Lunch wasn't a carnal "Walking Dead" woof down of the "Best of Maxi" meal at chez McDonalds but rather hummus and whole wheat (whole wheat!) crackers and a small salad. AND I exercised. What. Is. Going. On?! Up until yesterday these choices no longer seemed possible and I was doomed for a complete 9 months of eating crap and a "Best of Maxi" ass.

I consider today a huge victory in what felt like a 3 month hangover and I feel amazing. Any of you ladies having any recent victories (new found energy, making better eating choices, glowing, feeling that pregnancy high that apparently exists?) as we slither out of the first trimester? Let's share!

Re: 2nd Trimester Victories!

  • I have noticed that I'm not as completely exhausted as I was and feeling not as sick. Just still have some killer headaches from time to time. So not complaining too much

  • Yes! I just had these feelings within the past 2 days - but I actually felt normal!! I was able to clean my house, eat normal food (not cereal and ice cream) and my skin is feeling smooth and not like an alligator. I really hope it only gets better from here! :) 1 downfall - I too have been getting the occasional killer headache too- so weird! Glad to know I'm not alone in that one.

  • I finally had the energy to cook dinner on a weeknight last week, and I even included vegetables! I find I'm eating healthier these days as well, though I still give in to my sugar cravings here and there. Luckily the cravings have gone down.

  • Congrats!! @PreggersinParis I'm so happy to have made it to the second trimester, there are no words to describe it! I didn't have much nausea or fatigue anyway, but I was living off carbs and salt because that was the only thing that filled me up for more than 20 minutes. I can now sleep through the night without waking up starving!! I'm so happy for you too!!
  • I feel randomly amazing today.  I am so excited but scared that the constant puking is going to come back!

    Congrats on feeling better.  )

Last night I finished my parents taxes! Whoohoo!!!
Today I started my spring cleaning. First making a mess by looking in to closets and throwing away stuff. (anyone want a snowboard lol?)
I am finally going to check up on my clients via email.
Sign up to a few dog rescue groups. The days are nicer and nicer and I miss my little one and going out with him.
And finally enjoy st Patrick's day with hubby and friends. (Irish food for me...duh)
  • I'm just starting to get out of the haze of first trimester, but I know it will be a matter of time before I'm completely feeling better. I always felt amazing after first tri with my first two so I expect the same with #3. Feels good doesn't it ladies??

  • Awesome!! I don't feel quite as crappy as I have been, but I don't feel super great either. Hopefully I will in another week or so.

I'm 14w6d today and finally feeling great!  I think a lot of my symptoms started disappearing last week but I got a nasty head cold that knocked me out again.  Today I got up before the alarm, worked out, had time to make a healthy breakfast and pack a healthy lunch.  What's more, I'm planning things for the evenings and thinking ahead to meal planning again.  I haven't even had the energy to think about those things before now!

  • @PreggersinParis I am finally getting back some energy to work out and go walking. I did yesterday and today. Im 15w2d along and I was eating unhealthy too and I just went to the grocery store to buy fruit for smoothies and spinach and other stuff to make salads. So you're not alone! From here on out I'm going to try to be healthy mommy to be. And have the occasional salty and sweet binge. :) also drinking more juice, milk, and Gatorade because I'm not that keen on water for every meal.
  • I felt great yesterday. Even went for a walk during my lunch break. Today, I took a nap in my car during my lunch break. I was SOOO sleepy. The only reason I'm not sleep now is because I don't want to wake up and not be able to go to sleep.
  • I am 13 weeks, and starting to not feel like death. Both my boys are sick, so I'm hoping in a few days we will all feel better. I'm making a meal plan tonight & looking forwards to eating vegetables :)
  • I have been deep cleaning my house like a mad woman for the last couple of days. Probably total about 22 hours in the past 3 days and that counts cooking and taking care of a 2 year old and a 9 year old. If I would have have had an empty clothes basket it wouldn't have taken that long but I finally found them in their toy room filled with stuffed animals. Lol I got distracted by everything and the baskets helps me to focus on one room at a time before movin to the next room. I just done deep cleaning my closet and I need to purge clothes but that will have to wait until it warms up a little more here.

Oh and I finally got my Christmas tree undecreated an moved out of the house. I was extremely sick and had no energy since the first of the year.

Plus we are getting ready to remodel our kitchen and garage so I need to start packing all that stuff up. The only thing I haven't done yet is wash windows. I will let my 9 year old do it one evenings so I have busted tail on the rest of the house.
  • I'm 15 weeks 4 days. I started to feel better week 14 (less nausea, heartburn, indigestion), but this last weekend it all came back. What the hell! I hope it goes away again soon, we're going on vacation next week.
  • Looks like we're getting to the end of the tough part (relatively speaking)! Today wasn't as "magical" as yesterday, I slept a little more but was not craving McDonald's, which really is a huge victory. I was about to start my own Supersize Me documentary because I was always effing there.

I noticed some of you mentioned meal planning. I too found that impossible to do and what made this so all difficult. Not knowing what you're going to want to eat in advance was so frustrating because it changed seemingly every 15minutes, where I would have to buy and eat the food quick before I changed my mind. We've been eating out more because of it, which of course is more costly than planning and cooking. Happy to see this phase out...
  • I'm 14 weeks and 1day. I must say that the strong sense of smell I had has subsided and I haven't threw up in days. I'm not as sleepy and I'm not craving Chinese food anymore. I don't feel the best but I feel better. I've always had some healthy food, but on occasion I indulged in junk.
  • Ditto!! I just started my 13th week and I feel ok but still get tired around 930pm and headaches are

  • I'm still not in the second trimester, but I am starting to get a little better.  I clean a lot of the boys toys out of the living room today.  My house has literally been a disaster since I got pregnant.  It actually is starting to look decent.  I can't wait until I'm eating good food again too.  I've been eating crap non-stop and I hate it.

  • 13w5d, today I feel like a person instead of a zombie! I COOKED lunch for DH before he left for work.. I have dinner in the crockpot, I'm on my fifth load of laundry.. The bathroom is spotless and I've been able to play with DS instead of just coloring and letting him watch Netflix and eat cereal. I am a person again!! Yayyy!!
  • Yes! Last week was Spring Break, and my husband (a high school Science teacher) was able to help me catch up on all kinds of chores that have been neglected since January. It was during that week that I began to notice periods of time throughout the day that I actually wasn't nauseous!

This week (week 15), I've been feeling so good that my house looks like it hasn't looked since December... so neat and tidy. I still have to catch my breath and feel the need to get off my feet often, but I'm feeling SO much better than the achy, icky, sickie, sleepy, cranky way I felt all first trimester.

On an added note, we were told the gender of our baby at yesterday's appointment (I want expecting to find out for at least another month). Anyone else get the news yet?
  • 14 weeks 4 days and feeling like s normal human being for a week! Occasional killer headaches and lightheaded ness slow me down, but not feeling hungover from the moment I wake up until the moment I go to sleep is amazing. I remember the second trimester awesomeness with my first two and so glad this one is following suit.

Ohh.... And my sex drive is back
  • I've finally felt like myself again as well, pretty excited about week15 so far! Granted I'm a tired, breathless version of myself but it's exciting nonetheless. I went on a nice long walk with my dog today and even swept and did a bit of clutter patrol! Woot!
  • I made dinner today AND cleaned the kitchen!!!!! I've been craving chicken and dumplings for weeks and weeks and was finally able to make it today (it takes quite a while)!!! Yay! Still tired, crampy and a bit yucky but I'll take what I can get right now!
  • Yay 13+3, officially on the second trimester woop woop :D

Feeling like actually doing a bit now. My MS has (touch wood) subsided somewhat.
Still getting these constant UTI's, but I'm feeling good.

The only thing I can't wait to slow down, is my toilet trips at night..... Couldn't tell you how many times I go. It's ridiculous.

    But im feeling goooood :-)
  • Woohoo we made it!!! B-)
  • Me too! 14w3d in! Yay! I don't feel completely better but I'll take no barfing and a stop to those awful Taco Bell cravings. It's a start :) the last 3 months has been a haze.
  • I'm 14 weeks today! Yay! So happy to be in round 2 finally. Had 2 great normal days and then today got hit with the dizzies and nausea for a few hours, it just puts me to the floor, I get narcoleptic after feeling queasy it's so debilitating! Anyway, after a 2 hr nap I felt better. On these good days I realized how crappy I really have been feeling, I was starting not to remember! But I desperately need to feel better as the fatigue is getting depressing! !! I hope the next week brings me more energy and stabilization!

Oh you can say that again. It feels like i have been asleep and just woke up, no more fatigue, nausea, and burping. It is indeed the honeymoon phase
