December 2014 Moms

My first real post partum period.

I had one last month when I got the Nexplanon birth control implant. It was spotty though and didn't really last long. Now, its real. And its not stopping. I got it on Sunday and its Saturday now and its still going strong. The odd thing was it started Sunday but it wasn't much of period and then Wednesday the flood gates opened. Is this something any of you have experienced? It is starting to worry me a little.

Re: My first real post partum period.

  • My first period postpartum (in January!) was longer and heavier than usual. February was right back to normal though.

If you are starting to get worried your doctor is truly your best resource.

  • I haven't gotten one with this baby yet (she's #3) but I know with my other two children, the periods after having them were pretty brutal.  I've never experienced issues or pain until I had babies.  I hope you're starting to feel better!
  • I also got Nexplanon. My first period after getting it lasted 14 days. It's been 10 days since that period stopped & I started spotting today. Out of curiosity, are you having any other side effects with yours?

  • I haven't noticed any other side effects other than my period. Good thing about nexplanon is I was told I could get it removed at any time if I don't like it or whatever. I still want to wait it out to see if my periods regulate.
  • I'm not on any hormonal BC and my 1st period lasted over 10 days.  If you're really concerned, reach out to your OB.

  • Yeah I think I might give them a call tomorrow. Thanks
