Bad cold

anyone else come down with a cold?? Stuffed, sore throat and chills.... If so, what are you doing/taking to make yourself feel better??

Re: Bad cold

  • I just got over having one! As much as it sucks, I tried to get lots of exercise and sleep. I drank a lot of water and a little bit of gatorade, I also would beg my S/O for back rubs :D needless to  say taking it easy since I wasn't really sure what meds could possibly be harmful.

  • Tylenol cold meds are perfectly fine. Take something so you aren't miserable.
I have a cold too, it's common in pregnancy because your body is already taxed by growing a baby. I've taken Tylenol with no issues.
  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one dying of a stuffy nose and sneezing like crazy!
  • Hot water with raw honey and fresh lemon juice will help your throat and help cleanse your system.  I hope you can get lots of rest and feel better soon.

  • Just be careful with Tylenol cold and sinus because it has phenylephrine in it which is a no no
  • Thank you all!! It's so brutal I think I'm going to go home from work early today and just rest on my couch! I did the whole "try to sweat it out".. That didn't work :( Lots of water, tea, honey and hope to kick this by the weekend!
  • If it's just a cold, runny nose, or sneezing they're a very common pregnancy symptom caused by hormones increasing the blood flow in your nasal passages my Dr said. Nothing you can do to cure it!
  • Not cold related, but if you have allergies, I've been told by my OB that Claritin is also ok.  They are starting down here in Northern Virginia.

  • My daughter has a cold and I woke up this morning with a sore throat so I think one's coming.  I already couldn't take most cold meds because I have hbp so I'm pretty used to "toughing it out."

  • @bootsie81 go talk to a pharmacist. I had high BP when I was pregnant with my daughter. I went to Walgreens and talked to one there and they gave me some things to help hat wouldn't raise my blood pressure. It was more shower tabs to clear congestion and saline to rinse my sinuses, but it helped.
  • Give your OB a call and they should be able to give you a list of OTC medications that are okay to take.  I would have died without allergy meds with my last one.
