You are probably fine. The controversy is probably to do with the fact that the official standard for vitamin d levels was updated a few years ago. Many in the field argue that this change was inappropriate and not needed. Basically the powers that be said no your levels need to be x amount higher then we used to say they should be. As a result a huge number of people (like almost everyone tested) went from having adequate vitamin d to suddenly having a deficiency literally(like actually literally) overnight.. The medical community has not resolved this so likely some providers are going by the new standard while others are holding off. While micronutrients in the diet certainly matter, your vitamin count shouldn't keep you up at night.
ETA: feel free to Google what I've said here and definitely call your good doc and ask some follow up questions. Sounds like your doc needs to work on his bedside manner...no one should be scaring you Like that.
oh boy @mrswilson830 you are braver than me. that much testing would make me crazy! especially about my numbers. i don't know about the affects of vitamin d on pregnancy, but since they are still battling about what "normal" means in the general population I bet there is also argument about acceptable pregnancy levels too. im sure someone here could produce a study where they force fed rats 500 times their body weight in dietary Vit. D and found negative affects as well as research showing non-conclusive results. I imagine its something you and your doc will have to figure out together, but my guess is you may not get a fully conclusive answer. i imagine historically lots of pregnant women across the world have had deficiencies and been ok, but since celiac's can present complications you may need to make a call with your provider about what to do! Good luck and please keep us updated! I'm sure you're not the only one with funny blood work wondering what in the hell you are supposed to do!
