Can't Sleep...

Two days before my princess arrives via c-section and can't sleep for beans. I don't feel super anxious but maybe i am. Tonight I'm not in a lot of hip pain but most nights lately i have been. Any ladies having or had the same issue with sleep when so close to delivery?

Re: Can't Sleep...

  • I don't have a planned delivery date but I know I'm having a miserable time sleeping. Hip pains and up a lot during the night. :( no fun.

  • I'm due next Friday and I have the worst case of insomnia. :( Trying to sleep at night is miserable. I bought lavender bath salts and soaked in the tub before bed last night. It kind of helped. I would try to take as many naps during the day as you can. You're going to need your rest for the big day.
  • The hip pain and having to pee makes it challenging! My doctor said Tylenol PM is safe to take? I've tried practicing my "relaxation techniques" in the middle of the night... So long as my hips aren't too sore it helps sometimes... (Relaxing your body from your head to your toes, 1 body part at a time. If it's going to work I usually don't remember past my shoulders :) ) good luck to you!
  • Pretty sure we're all in the same boat. Maybe it's nature's way of getting us used to lack of sleep, because goodness knows there won't be much with a newborn. Good luck!
  • Same thing here. I haven't slept in a few weeks. At this point I don't even feel tired when my husband is ready to go to bed. Having a C-section on Monday so I'm trying to nap as much as possible.
  • With the hip pain, 8 trips a night to the bathroom, and now a head cold there is no such thing as sleep for me. I feel miserable, and then there's the anxiety of my c-section coming Friday. I'll be glad when LO is finally here and I have a reason to be up all night besides these irritating pains.
  • I can relate.  It's so weird because I have slept so well throughout the whole pregnancy....I have been so lucky.  But all of a sudden....like a week ago, I cannot sleep at all!  And I am never tired anymore either.....ever.  I tried taking Tylenol PM and that didn't even do anything.  Thank god for things like these message boards and Bravo TV...they help keep me occupied :)
  • I go a few nights sleeping horribly, then I guess I'm so exhausted I sleep like a log for one night, then back to being awake all night. My husband is the kind of person who falls asleep right away and stays asleep all night, so when I go through a tough night I go into the nursery and try to keep occupied. I tend to wake up at the same time every night between 4 and 4:30, and then there is nothing to be done but wait until morning. I take Tylenol and Unisom (equivalent of Tylenol PM) pretty much every night, but I think it wears off by 4.
  • The hip and knee pain is unreal! Nothing helps. Pillows and tylenol have proven to be useless. I sleep for maybe a half hour at a time. If I roll over its such a hassle. Just wish the doctors would make up their mind on what to do with delivery!!
