Trying to Get Pregnant

Could they be wrong

i know this is highly unlikely and I'm not going to get my hopes up at 9 weeks I was told my baby didn't have a heartbeat and that it had stopped growing at 6 weeks had to have an early scan due to bleeding etc they never saw a heartbeat through my scans then on my 9th week I was told I had a failed pregnancy it's now been 2 weeks and I've had bleeding but nothing major and tests are still saying pregnant. We decided to let the miscarriage happen naturally just wonder what should I be looking for how will I feel? When will it start? So confused

Re: Could they be wrong

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. I also asked for a second ultrasound to confirm and asked my doctor if she was really sure. I waited a week or two and had a d&c. It felt good to have it over with. You can expect your tests to remain positive, even after the baby has stopped growing and even after a d&c. It doesn't mean that your pregnancy is still viable. Sorry.

  • That's ok I kind of knew that anyway can I ask what a d&c stands for sorry not use to all this techincal talk. When do you think it will start to come away naturally xx
  • A D& C is dilation and curettage, meaning they go I'm and remove your baby, they call the 'products of conception'.
also, your Dr will called this a 'missed abortion '. Meaning you had a miscarriage but tour body held on to the baby.

I have never had a miscarriage, however I have been present at many.
I am sorry for your loss.
    Thank God for Raid.

I don't know. You could discuss with your doctor. I opted for the d&c because waiting was just too hard. Also, with a d&c they are able to order genetic testing, which they can't do otherwise. They found out that our baby had a chromosomal abnormality that happens at random and is incompatible with life. It made me feel better to know what happened.

    Not sure when it'll start...
My timeline: I was almost 12 weeks and the heartbeat stopped at 9. On a Friday night, I had light cramps. The next day I had very minimal dark red spotting... Same the next day. Sunday night I began to miscarry. I lost so much blood, I passed out and went to the ER. It was very traumatic.

I'm sorry for your loss. Hang in there. You can do it... The waiting is terrible.
  • I just don't know what to expect! I was only 6 weeks gone! I would be 11 weeks now been have some cramps since Saturday this afternoon has been the worse I'm getting some Dark red looks like stringing discharge but I haven't a clue what a miscarriage looks like especially when baby was only about 6 weeks should I expect a lot of not!!!! Feeling confused and alone! OH is in the forces and works away mon to Friday !
  • Most women with who experience an miscarriage have cramps and lots of bleeding with some tissue seen.

Again, I am sorry you are going through this.
    Thank God for Raid.

I can tell you my experience with my mc, but I know they can vary. Day 1 (1 day after my BFP, 1 week after AF was due, estimate I was 5 weeks + 2) I had some pink/bright red spotting, it stopped very soon after started. No cramping, but I was EXHAUSTED. Day 2- mild discomfort, felt more like a burning sensation in my uterus (didn't feel like normal cramps, it was super weird), felt super gassy and the need to have a BM, more bright red spotting that would come and go. By 4:30 on day 2 I decided we needed to go to the ER. Finally got to see a doc, they said cervix was closed but my HCG was only at a 3, and they diagnosed me as 'threatened abortion' (horrible doc speak for miscarriage). Went home (after 7 HOURS at the ER), and felt the strong urge to have a BM. Went to the restroom, felt a pinching sensation and saw that I had passed the embryo. Days 3-4 Some mild cramping, passing tissue, 'stringy' blood, flow was like my normal period (I'm NOT a heavy bleeder, and if I regularly used pads I probably would have used fewer, but I got uncomfortable super fast). I was done bleeding by the morning of Day 5.

    Hope that helps!!
