August 2015 Moms

Moms who've had summer babies!

This might be TMI, but I would hope you've heard worse. I'm about 16 weeks pregnant and just experienced trouble shaving.....down there. My bump is very proud and I could barely see what I was doing. For you veteran moms who've had summer babies....how did you make it through? I'm not due till August 23rd and I can't go all summer barely shaving ever so often. Tips and tricks would be lovely....Thanks in advance!

  • I have been wondering the same thing....don't think I could do a Brazilian, not that late in the game
  • It's called Brazilian wax. I get it done every 3 weeks. It will change your life :)

  • Also, something that helps with all shaving is getting a razor with the solid around it, like the Venus razor. That way you don't have to worry about shaving cream our anything like that.

  • Ever since my daughter was born I have had horrible, horrible razor burn and issues from waxing/depilatories/etc... Actually got diagnosed eventually as folliculitis but even oral antibiotics didn't clear it up. I even tried laser hair removal, but it was not real effective with my light hair and skin tone. I gave up when we started TTC again and bought an electric razor. I don't get nearly as smooth of a shave, but it does what I need it to to not have visible hair, and I get very minimal razor burn.

Love Brazilians! Unfortunately they are expensive so I'm waiting to indulge until the summer months. On another note...my leg hair has kinda thinned out :)

I've gotten Brazilians before, does it hurt more since there is more blood flow in that region? It may be a stupid question but I may get one or two come summertime.
  • Go by feel. Get something to prop your foot up on, it gets hard to maneuver!
  • I'm so glad someone asked this!! I was wondering the same thing, but didn't know how to ask. I am pretty sure my hubby will be helping me! Or my mom and I are close enough that she would totally do my bikini line for me if I was desperate. I know that sounds weird, but she even cleans the hair out of my shower drain cause it makes me gag lol.
  • I got waxed ( not full Brazilian) when I was going to be spending a huge amount of time in my swimsuit (babymoon). And I also bought some boyshort swim bottoms so I wouldn't have to always worry about it :)

Have you ever done it before? I've been getting brazilians for years so at this point the hair is very thin. I would say the first couple times it hurt here and there but for me
It's worth it. I won't put a razor down there.

  • How long cord the hair have to be down there for a Brazilian I don't want to go and have them say it's to long lol
  • If you get waxed it hurts slightly more than a pre-pregnancy wax but it's definitely bearable. It's the only way to go when you can't see what's going on down there anymore! I live in AZ and will live in a swimsuit this summer!
  • I love Brazilian waxes! Once you get one you will never go back to shaving lol. Also I get my legs waxed in the summer, it is so wonderful because I don't have to shave for at least 2- 2 1/2 weeks. Since my bump will probably be gigantic come summer, I am def. going to treat myself and get both the Brazilian and legs! Shaving is tricky enough when i'm not pregnant, I could only imagine how hard it would be with a huge bump in your way.
Always hold on to hope ❤

Laser hair removal, best thing that ever happend to me.
  • I go by feel. Also once in a blue moon hubby will help. My bump is huge and I know the feeling of having a hard time. I have jet black hair so not shaving is not an option.
  • I agree with the waxing. My first pregnancy I didn't do it until the summer months, and that was a mistake. It hurts slightly more than pre pregnancy, which is why I had stopped, but stopping just makes it hurt more. The hair can be pretty short, and if it's Amazon style that hurts more. I go every 6 weeks, but I've been going for many years.
If you are going to shave, I always had luck putting my leg out to the side of my belly, but you need a bit of flexibility. This works for shaving, tying shoes, painting toe nails...
  • I had my first baby in August.  I was so hot and fat that I didn't care.  I went bushy!  And I have very dark, thick hair.  I also didn't shave my legs that year!  LOL.  Fun times.  but seriously I didn't care by that point.

  • My first was born in the end of August. I ended up having to sit in order to safely remain balanced. There were also times where I'd shave in front of the mirror after finishing my shower.
  • I'm going with waxing. You don't have to do a full Brazilian, there is the bikini wax, just the bikini line for moderate coverage swimwear, or the inbetweebie, bikini line plus about another inch in on all sides for the more risque beach goer. :)

I just wore shorts to swim in and went by feel if I really need to shave. Hubby said he would help but I thought that was weird. This time around I am going to he get waxed :)

Oh and edited to say : we have the same due date!!!!!
  • I just decided that after 2 months of not shaving, that I was going to give it a try even without a good visual. Lol boy was that an ordeal....
BUT I'm glad I did it tonight because I normally shower in the morning. Welllll... I found a tick on my side!!!! Must've latched on while I was checking on my garden earlier! My husband gave me a full body check. Lol
