prenatal vitamins are making me sick... please help

I have tried taking my prenatal vitamins at different times of the day, on an empty stomach and after eating... Without fail I get sick to my stomach within a half hour. This stated at around week 14... Is there anything I can do??

  • Jamieson prenatal
  • Weird say's they claim to be easy on the stomach, I was going to suggest changing brands, but i'm not sure that will help as they seem pretty clean.

  • I typically can't stomach any multi-vitamin, but Rainbow Light Prenatals have been okay for me as long as I take them with food, or right before I fall asleep. They are food based.
  • For me the key is to find a food/plant based vitamin. If you town has one, I would recommend going to co-op or health food store and ask for help picking something. The one I got is organic, plant based, gluten free and it has ginger in it, and that is supposed to help with digestion. I haven't gotten sick since I switched vitamins.
  • I wasn't able to stomach any prenatal vitamins so we decided to split things up. I take Flinstone gummie vitamins (for kids) in the morning with a separate folic acid pill and a DHA capsule, and then take an independent iron supplement right before bed with a glass of OJ.
  • I am also taking the gummy prenatals. I can swallow pills no problem, but the prenatals that I was getting from the store were ridiculous! Horse pills for sure!

  • Rainbow Light have worked for me.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Gummy ones for me too, the other ones made me sick. Doc says it's completely fine to do the gummies.
  • I had the same issue at 14 weeks I would get very sick and couldn't swallow them. At 17 weeks I was able to start taking the gummies. I love them, they taste like candy.
  • Mine madee sick too, all 3 brands that i tried. I ended up getting regular gummy vitamins and really watching my diet to add as many fruits and veggies as possible.. Even added beans (black beans are my fav now in a salad) and other foods i would have never touched before
  • Rainbow Light for me too with a separate DHA supp from Nordic Naturals. I've been happy with Rainbow Light, maybe it's the ginger and probiotics? Good luck for a settled stomach!
  • I had the same problem till I just stopped taking them all together but I knew I needed them so I kept asking other pregnant women they told me there are gummy prenatal vitamins or taking children vitamins just double it for you and your baby hope this helps and congratulations ;;)
  • Take at night before bed, what my doctor said , if u already haven't tried yet
  • Find natural/food based vitamins which are more gentle on your tummy like Garden of Life Vitamin Code or Rainbow. I can't take strong multis either & both of these brands have worked for me.
  • I took the Vitafusion gummies for a while but they started to gag me. The ones I take now I take right before I go to bed. They don't seem to bother me when I take them at night.
  • My OB suggested I take flinstones kids chewables with iron- and just to take 2 instead of 1. They have been a lot better for me :)

  • My OB told me just to take 2 flintstone vitamins since I couldnt stomach prenatals.  He said sometimes the DHA upsets the stomach.
  • Cvs gummies for me. The others made me sick as well.

  • I take Vitafusion prenatal along with the calcium and fiber supplements. I actually look forward to taking them since they are yum and don't make me sick at all. I started with similac and they made my nausea so bad! The gummies have been great.

  • Thank you :) this is all very helpful
  • I take mine before bed. I can't even take regular vitamins with out them making me sick. Switching to right before bed worked like a charm.
