  Personally, I think the name is beautiful.  I think the reference would be outdated for children to understand and if a parent ever said anything, you could just remind them that she's named after the true definition which is friendship or harmony.

  I think of divergent but only because I just finished the book series yesterday. haha. I actually love it. It's very pretty and it has a beautiful meaning.

  Amity has a beautiful meaning. It reminds me a little bit of a Puritan name (like Mercy, Patience, etc.) which is kind of cool and definitely unusual

  Seconding the Divergent reference. It was the faction for people who care about others and value friendship and kindness and good stuff like that. I don't remember the specifics because I read it over the summer but generally a really good meaning.

  My daughters middle name is Amity (I wanted it as her first name - but then got worried about her as a teenager stealing my signature - strange, I know!).
  
  It is a beautiful name. You have great taste!

  I've seen Amityville Horror and that didn't even occur to me. I thought of Divergent as well. I think it's pretty!
