    This happened to my friend.
However it was because she made done changes in her eating habits after meeting with the specialist. It simply managed her GD.
Good luck what ever your case may be! It is always good to see good numbers.

Wow that's awesome! I hope it would happen to me. I started glucose monitoring yesterday, my numbers are still a bit over the range the doctor wants even when I follow the diet plan. I hope it get better, I really don't want to have to be on med or worse injecting insulin.

I hope it gets better for you too! I just am finding it so strange, My numbers were so high and now all of a sudden I can pretty much eat what I want. I ate a pint of ice cream to myself last night and it did not touch my sugar level....How is that even possible.

Really? Thats amazing! What were your number if you don't mind me asking. Mine was super high (250) on the 1 hour test fasting. I've doing the diet and pricking my fingers and it seem like it's usually a lil higher in the morning fasting but even higher at night, breakfast and lunch are usually under.

Gestational diabetes isn't supposed to get better until after delivery. Aside from carbs, your level of activity and the fat intake you consume can both affect your blood sugar levels. If you've been more active and eating less fat, your food will break down quicker and lead to better level numbers. I would bring this up with your doctor though, just to be sure. Could be a blessing but doesn't hurt to check your pregnancy hormones and make sure all is in check. :) The hormones your placenta produces are supposed to increase insulin resistance the further along you are in pregnancy until after delivery when the placenta is out of the body.

I've been a bit more active this whole week since discovered I got GD, I do at least 30 cardio daily. I've also eating less carbs and eat like 3 meals and 3 snacks daily as suggested. I don't eat sweets at all except on weekend I could have a slice of cake. I'm trying my best to follow the diet and get active to avoid pills so I hope it work. When you say the amount of fats, do you mean like from fried food? Or healthy fat like from avocado, salmon, etc? I wasn't aware of the fat factor at all, I'm still new at this. This is only my third day of monitoring my glucose, I got an appt on Wednesday so I will ask more questions for sure. Thank you for the info:)

You're very welcome for the info, I'm glad I can help. :) As far as fat intake, it really doesn't matter too much if the fats are good or bad fats. Foods containing more fat will be digested and broken down slower, which can play funny with your numbers. Sometimes it may keep your levels more steady by having the food being slowly digested and released into your system, rather than giving you an immediate blood sugar spike. For example breakfast cereals and candy usually break down pretty quick and will raise your levels faster with a more prominent spike. Snacks with both carbs and protein usually work well at maintaining your levels for the same reason fat does. Different foods have different effects on different people so you may find that some foods will help you now more than others. I do know that pasta and spaghetti are tricky. Even though they're not super fatty, just really loaded with carbs, they don't cause an immediate spike in levels like the forementioned breakfast cereals and candy. For some reason pasta always leaves me with higher numbers 3-4 hours after eating them and my levels will remain higher for at least the next 8 hours. It's weird. I love spaghetti, too, so this sucks. It's one of the foods I really try to avoid for this pregnancy because I get too stressed about my levels after eating them. Something about pasta is just not cooperative with diabetes. Grr. What I would do for a guilt free pasta dinner right now lol.

My GD is weird. I've been Testing for a couple weeks now and after one lunch with high carbs you would think it would be high and it wasn't. Then dinner with less carbs it was high. I could eat the same meal and one time it would read 120 and the next 170. It is frustrating. Just make sure you are eating protein with your carbs. I've noticed with fruit I'm fine but with flour products it sets me over the edge.

Question for you ladies.....Have you tried something you don't think you can eat? Like ice cream or anything? I tried cereal yesterday and it did end up spiking my sugar but yet I can have a pint of ice cream....weird. anyways I am not active my pregnancy is a rough one so the couch is my best friend. Not sure why my numbers are food but I will bring it up to my doc. And for the person talking about spaghetti look into dream field pasta. It slowly hits your sugars and there is many different kinds. I ate all sorts of pasta dishes. Just last night had chicken marinara and alfredo noodles with that pasta and number 1 hour later was 102.

I found out about my GD this week and immediately made a change to my diet. I only failed my 1 hour test and 3 hour test by 3 points, 3 POINTS!! :((

Since changing my diet this week, my #s have been below what my dr wanted to see after every meal, which has made me very happy. The only time I'm high is in the morning after fasting, which I haven't quite figured out why yet.

What are some recipes and snacks recommended for GD? Just wondering what other moms are eating to help with their numbers.

Low carb youghart with granola, hummus and veggies, apples and peanut butter. I was one point over so borderline, I was told I could take the test again or eat healthier. I chose to eat healthier.
