Progesterone level

I'm a first timer and visited my OB at 3w4d pregnant. They called back saying I was definitely pregnant and it all looked good. I was confused though, because she then said they were prescribing Prometrium 100 mg because of progesterone level being a 13. From what I've read this isn't a bad level for less than 4 weeks. Plus she just sounded so positive. But I have been freaked out and just wondered if anyone else has had their levels checked early and/or taken Prometrium? I'm going for more bloodwork tomorrow and will be 4wk4d then :) Thanks!

Re: Progesterone level

  • I will be 4 weeks tomorrow. Called my doc and told him i have some pain. So he told me to take Utrogestan 100 mg. This is progesteron in my country. I only tested for hcg. So...I don't think you should worry

  • I had mine taken at 4w and 4w2d. At 4w my prog was 13 and at 4w2d it was 15.3. I'm on endometrin 3x a day. I have a history of spontaneous mc. Going back on the 19th for another sono and more bloodwork! Here's hoping we get to see something! [-O<
  • I'm approx. 6 weeks and at 4 1/2 weeks mine was a 10 but my doctor didn't seemed concerned even though that's the low end of normal and I have a history of loss. So I've been using natural progesterone cream and essential oils. My first appt isn't until April 7th so I'm praying I make it that long and that things are good
  • Anything above 10 is considered normal but I know most doctors would prefer to see 20 or higher, it doesn't mean anything is wrong. But kudos to your doc for being proactive and getting you on supps! It's just one of those things that won't hurt to take and could potentially save your baby if you really end up needing it!

  • Thanks ladies!
  • I just had blood drawn yesterday (due to brown/pink discharge/spotting) and they're now putting me on a progesterone supp because I'm at 13 and she said they like to see closer to 19 at this point (I'm 6w1d).  I'm glad I trusted my gut and called my doc, now just crossing fingers for good hcg numbers at tomorrow's draw!

  • @SweetMelissa4 @drelliesattler @mrswelty12 I hope you all get good news! My progesterone level went up to a 16; 12-20 is the average range for where I am. My OB still wants it at 20 so that natural dips don't get close to the danger zone. They told me dipping lower than an 8 is dangerous. They doubled my dose of Prometrium. My HCG went up wonderfully though so I am happy today :) thanks everyone for the encouragement!
  • My progesterone was 12 when I got my first test last week at 5 weeks and the doc didn't seem concerned or even bring up supplementation despite my history of recent miscarriage. I have my second docs appointment tomorrow and I'm really hoping the numbers still look good!
  • I'm 6.5 weeks and my progesterone was measured at 2.1. I was put on Prometrium 200 today. With the cramping and spotting I'm just trying to stay positive. More blood work tomorrow for me as well. Happy thoughts!
