My LO is 6 months but was 1 month early. I started introducing solids 2 weeks ago because he is meeting the milestones of a normal 6 month old. However, he is (2 weeks later) still completely uninterested in solids. He defiantly is interested more in whole foods as opposed to purees, but he is still not getting past the gag reflex :-/ he likes to chew on sweet potato sticks and raw apple but he will not swallow anything. I do still offer something every day.
We started giving some tastes of things a couple of weeks before lo turned 6 months, but then officially started on a consistent basis at 6 months. So far he loves bananas, pears, and any kind of bread/toast and has definitely chewed and swallowed a bunch. Not as much of a fan of any meat or veggies yet.
My LO has been tasting since 4 months and eating 3-4 times a week since 5 months. He loves all fruits, apple butter, oatmeal mixed with fruit, and hasn't balked at any veggies except squash. He turns 6 months old tomorrow so we will soon be moving to a regular eating schedule. I have noticed he does better with thicker foods (oatmeal, apple butter),
Started at mid 4 months with oatmeal and prunes or pears. Then apples, banana at 5 mo, sweet potato and carrots next. Now at 6 mo the ped said to move up to more stage 2 and add meats and more veggies but so far he hates them so I may back off a bit. I also think the quantity the ped suggested is too much. 4-6oz food ontop of a 6 oz bottle??? Way too much for him.
We've done the BLW approach exclusively and started a week before 6 months. She's loved sweet potatoes, apples, cucumbers, broccoli. Haven't tried meat yet.
