appetite changes?

So I'm almost 3 weeks postpartum & I barely have an appetite. I know it won't be the same as when I was pregnant and eating all the time, but I am breastfeeding and I never have the urge to eat. If anything I'm just thirsty all the time, should I be worried? It's not that I'm refusing to eat or can't eat, I just don't get hungry. Anyone else have this after delivering?

Re: appetite changes?

  • Could just be because you're busy with your LO. I've skipped quite a few meals recently just because I forget to eat. Drinking is very important, but also try to keep calories up even if it's just by snacking frequently.

@mommybee9 I'm the same way. I just try my best to keep hydrated over anything else and keeping snacks at hand by the night stand. My appetite started to increase little by little at 3 weeks. I'm now at 5 weeks postpartum and it's getting better. Don't worry :)
  • I'm only 2 weeks postpartum but I feel exactly the same way. I don't feel like eating at all really but every few nursing sessions with DS I force myself to find something to eat. I assume it will pass eventually.

  • Same here haven't felt much like eating since the delivery. I've just been choking food down because I know I have to eat
  • I get hungry, but not much in the mood to eat. I assume it is the hormones and will eventually go away.

  • My eating admittedly has not been good. I'm 3.5 weeks post partum and nursing as well. A huge part of it is the time and energy it takes to actually prepare food. So I usually go for something that's quick and crappy. My best meal has been breakfast where I will make a point to have a bowl of cereal or oatmeal with fruit in it and orange juice. I try to eat an apple or banana throughtout the day as snacks but there's a lot of cookies and potato chips mixed in there too. Ugh, I'm mortified to admit the other day I had ramen noodle!

  • Same boat here! I'm 7 weeks pp and just now am getting my appetite back! I feel awful if I don't eat by the middle of the afternoon so I try and eat things I love like yogurt and veggies. BF takes so much out of you but it's important to refuel. No one will judge on the ramen
