Sex! Question

im 26 weeks and had placenta previa my doc said not to have sex until they check again. I stopped for a month or so they checked and I was fine the placenta moved so I can start again. Me and my bf had sex and it hurt at first it even hurt a lot when they did the transvaginal ultrasound. I noticed after sex it hurt and when I went to pee it hurt bad to pee and noticed some spotting or like like bleeding when I wiped I took more tissue and saw where it was coming from idk if it was a tore or wat but sex hurts now. Is anyone else super tight down there? It's making me scared to give birth.(also I know he isn't playing me and we don't have std) and of course I'm going to ask the doc. My app is coming up just wanted opinions

Re: Sex! Question

  • Sex has been uncomfortable for me for a while. We are still trying to figure out how to make it comfortable. If concerned about the spotting, please speak with your doctor.

  • I find it's painful if we don't have it for a while. Lube helps a little.

  • My doctor told me at the beginning of pregnancy to not have sex if it is painful but spotting after sex is normally okay as long as it stops. Definitely tell your doctor and I would stop till I talk to them to make sure everything is okay.
  • I have placenta previa as well (ultrasound scheduled for next week to see if it is better) and am on the same no sex regimen. My doctor warned me that if we get the green light next week I will want to be very careful and not go crazy- because it will be more tender and bleeding isn't uncommon. Talk to your doctor for sure but don't be too worried, from what my doc said, that's all pretty normal
  • Wow. I hope its not a tear. I'm sure u would have figured that out by now. That happened to me long before I ever got pregnant and it was aweful. In my case it was horrible and didn't heal right. Sex is usually uncomfortable for me during pregnancy. Just extra tender. Hope all is well
  • If it hurt to pee it sounds like something went wrong mechanically :( Light spotting and slight soreness/tenderness afterward can be perfectly normal. It sounds like something just went a little wonky this time and can be totally avoided from here on out just by being gentle and making sure you're properly lubricated. This should have no bearing on labor, though, so try not to stress about that. Remember, too, that there are things you can do (exercises, massages) to prepare yourself ahead of time if you're really worried about it.
  • Last time that happened to me a couple months back it was the start of a yeast infection. No previa for me but sex hurt, had light spotting, peeing was uncomfortable, and I had soreness.

  • My husband is gone monday through Friday at works. So the only chance we have to have sex is on the weekends, and sometimes we don't do it every weekend. I really find the longer we wait, the more difficult it is for me to be "turned on", thus more painful sex. I also experience pain whe I pee right after, usually is gone within an hour or two. No haven't experienced spotting, that I would tell your doctor about right away, even though it can be normal. With your history, that is information you want to share.
  • Try lots of lube. I refuse to do anything with extra help.

It's completely normal for intercourse to be uncomfortable while pregnant. Some ladies can have intercourse the whole pregnancy and be completely fine, while others have no interest at all whether it be from being uncomfortable or whatever else. I have no desire to have intercourse (although I do feel bad for my significant other, but he understands), but it's just too uncomfortable for me so I choose not to. Also, if I had spotting then I would be paranoid to have intercourse...but that's just me. My doctor has said from the get go that spotting is normal, but I'd just rather avoid it. Good luck and maybe you can get some answers from your doctor.
  • Okay ladies, I need your help! I have noticed that the bigger I get, the more uncomfortable and impossible sex is. (Surprise!) We have tried with me on top and that works but honestly, I'm tired. And it's too much work. Have you found any positions that work around the baby belly? I'm sure my husband would be very grateful if he doesn't have to wait for months to have sex again!

Our "hugely pregnant sex" go-to positions include me on top, reverse cowgirl (me on top facing his toes - I find this to be extremely comfortable), missionary with me on an incline (I have a wedge pillow but leaning on a bunch of pillows should work the same), and me on my side (ie the "I'm feeling super lazy tonight" position). Doggy style also works but lately it has been uncomfortable so we left that option behind a month or so ago.

My husband and I are pretty much down to two positions, but we're pretty happy with both. One is with us both on our sides, like we're spooning, and I can change my angle however I want/need for it to feel right. The other has him on his side and me on my back beside him with one leg draped over him while he sort of scissors the other with his legs partially parted. This one is my favorite because we can still touch each other quite well (and even twist for kisses when we're up for it) and it gives plenty of space for me to "help myself" if needed.

Haha! I have a pretty clear definition of that from the old days on here....
