I really want to have one done! In fact, I asked my fiancé if he could schedule one for me for my birthday present. He thought it was a weird gift request but it's something I'll love for sure!
I was told 28 -32 weeks. Baby is Chucky enough to look all squishy and cute, but still have enough room to move around so you can see their face. But it will all depend on how much fluid you have around them as well.. So with enough fluid you could go get good pictures way later in the game as well.
@CourtneySmith1227 we did one at 13 /24 and will do the next one at 32 . I love watching her grow. My Dr enjoys the updates. She even made the comment sheer looks like 2 of my others... Haha
I love it. The ultrasound tech kept laughing at him cause his feet were by his head and he was doing something weird. But I can't wait to see what my chubby monster looks like now. I got til april 6th=/
We had one done at 16 weeks then again at 26 weeks. The difference was amazing. My only suggestion is don't wait too long to get it done. The lady who did ours said if we waited another week to get it done there would have not been much to see as she would be to squished in my uterus to get any decent pict
Nope, not my thing. Plus, we don't really have that kind of extra cash laying around. I also have the feeling the results wouldn't be that great, considering I see an mfm to use their better ultrasound equipment for growth checks since I'm too fat for fundal height measurements and those "better" images have been highly disappointing. You can barely tell you're looking at a baby and we've only gotten one picture worth taking home out of two anatomy checks and a growth check. I'll save my money for when baby's here.
I'm so excited about mine at 28 weeks but I really shouldn't get my hopes up because my doc is new to the 3D world wands and is known to be terrible at ultrasounds period........ Bummer
Nope. I only do the recommended ultrasounds from my dr which were two. One to confirm pregnancy and dates. The other to check anatomy. Both were normal Ultrasounds. If there were something that showed in the anatomy one we would have done another she said but we were good to go. I also believe that they don't recommend doing all the extras just for getting pictures for baby book because no one knows fully if there is any effect on the growing fetus at all as studies haven't entirely been done. I don't see the point, don't get me wrong love seeing my LO on the screen but don't want to do unnecessary things either .
Unfortunately my doctor doesn't do them but I am going to go ahead and get it done out of pocket. I'm a FTM and I'm trying to soak in every bit of this pregnancy as I can because its going by so quick! It is a little pricey but I really don't "treat" myself to many things now, so I look at it as my gift to myself
Went today for my 3d/4d and the little babe was not having any of it. At first we could see his profile, but the Us tech wanted a front view, so I drank some more juice. About 5 minutes later he decided to completely flip around face down and was not going to turn around for us after that. Had to reschedule for the 2nd of April. Going to monitor what types of foods make him move, and try to eat something that will make him active before the next one. Hoping he will want to share his little face with us next time
I think I'd rather be surprised when she's born than know exactly what she'll look like ahead of time. My doctor doesn't have 3d/4d equipment unfortunately. I wasn't supposed to have ultrasounds after the 18w A\S but at 26 weeks my fundal measurement was 3.5 weeks ahead so they gave me an extra one. She's right on schedule and actually quite small (27th percentile) but is breech and was all curled up in a ball, which is likely why I measured so big.
I was funny to see that she had one foot over her head and the other one kicking my bladder repeatedly, but we didn't get a real clear look at her face. If she stays breech we will definitely have another one around 34-36 weeks to see if there's any chance of her flipping at that point.
Re: 3D/4D Ultrasound
Went yesterday... She didn't want to turn to show her whole face.. So I'll be going back.
