Useless baby purchases - for fun

There are so many things to buy for baby and then somethings that seem so useless or pointless..... What is your vote for most useless baby item?

For me it is a wipe warmer.... Like what happens to your baby when you are out for the day and the wipes are left in the cold car? Never saw the point in having or registering for one!

Excited to here what you come up with!

  • Wipe warmer!
  • Loading the player...
  • A baby-specific food processor lol .. Doesn't a normal one work just fine?

Hahha I always wondered the same thing! Like is there actually a difference between the baby bullet and the nutribullet? Besides that one comes in a pastel baby color?!

If yours has a small enough bowl (like a mini-prep) or you're only making big quantities (like to freeze), then sure. If you only have a 12 cup or something and you just want to puree a little bit of dinner that night, it won't work - that's the only reason that makes any sense to me. I don't know about those Bullet ones specifically, I'm thinking of just a regular food processor.
  • Those boogie wipes...can't you just use a normal wipe? Or those little cotton towels?
  • Yeah I'm seeing pacifier wipes... Is that a real thing?

Yes they are and I found that having them on me reduced my anxiety every time DS threw his pacifier onto the floor.... Soap and water is probably better but in a pinch they are totally helpful (even if only to remind me "you are doing a good job keeping his pacifier clean" haha)
  • As said by PP, wipe warmers, pacifier wipes, peepee teepee, 3D ultrasounds, bottle warmer. I can go on. With all the crap companies try to sell us mommies because we "need" the stuff is crazy. I mean, I'm pretty sure none of our parents had any of this nonsense and we are still alive today. Lol
  • I had someone tell me that the one thing I shoulda make sure to register for was a wipe warmer. This is someone who also happens to have more money than she know what to do with. I almost blew a gasket trying not to laugh in her face. Also, her children are horribly misbehaved and she think they are angels. No wipe warmer for me. Or a diaper genie.

Oh definitely rethink the diaper genie! There are A LOT of diapers to throw away!!!!!!! And it really does control the smell!

I definitely want a diaper genie. I have two dogs who love trash cans, particularly those in the bathroom. The LAST thing I want to do is clean shredded diapers from under the bed.
However, I do have to agree with most of these. Wipe warmers, pee pee tee pees, those Keurig things for formula? Why would you need that?
  • My friend who is on a really tight budget said that the wipe warmer is her favorite thing that she has for her little boy-- controls extra spraying? Haha. I thought the idea was silly, too, until she mentioned that.
  • The wipe warmer and diaper genie were two things I rarely ever used. They were a waste because they were in the nursery (by the changing table, another waste of $$) and I rarely actually changed diapers in there. Both my girls slept in our room the first couple months in a pack n play that had a diaper changer attached to it. After they moved to their cribs they were sleeping through the night so no nightly changes. During the day diapers were changed mostly in the living room on the floor or couch.

Also, I LOVE Boogie Wipes! I just went though a whole pack this past week when my three year old had a cold. So gentle on little noses and great for getting off those stuck on crusties in the morning!
  • I loved the wipe warmer for middle of the night changes. One less thing to make him wake up more. Necessary? No, but it was a shower gift, so no harm there.

The blanket lovey with animal head attached were never used or desired by baby.

I agree with all of the above! Good to know about the boogie wipes. I do have to add that my sister in law already bought our baby a blanket lovey with animal head. My niece and nephew both were so attached to theirs they couldn't sleep without it. We finally made my nephew give his up when he was 10 or 11. Haha. Our kid probably won't use his though. My husbands step mom bought me a floor mat for the baby to lay on that's shaped like an animal. Way over priced and I never would have bought it. Super cute though.

Boogie wipes are great when LO has a cold and their poor nose is raw. I wouldn't keep them in stock though.

I used my diaper genie a lot too. I lived in an apartment though and it was easier for us.

I did have a wipe warmer and I always forgot to put water in it and burnt them so I won't be getting another because I'm irresponsible :)
  • Thanks to @elruby and @devyns2nd for the the Diaper Genie recommendation - I'd never heard of it, but since we live in a relatively small apartment, I think it'll make things more convenient than a normal trash can would. Adding it to my registry now! :)

It really helps in an apartment because you have to walk out to a dumpster or let poo stink up your house. The only problem I had was that MH had to empty it because a bag full if diapers is pretty dang heavy.
  • I registered for a wipe case that has a baseball on it, which I thought was cute and unnecessary. Checked my registry today, and someone BOUGHT IT! Yay!!!
  • Diaper genie.. I don't care to store poopie diapers like sausage links in the house, wipe warmers.. The list could go on, FTM you will buy everything, then you learn a lot is very unnecessary...and sometimes simply ridiculous...but everyone is different :)
  • I had no idea about boogie wipes!

My thoughts exactly! Might be selfish of me, but I am more than okay with having my husband empty it haha

  • Lurking from the may board. We bought a second diaper genie this time around for each floor since we will have two in diapers.

Third boy and I've never owned a wipes warmer, bottle warmer or those peepee teepee things. My one son would pee every single time I changed him. I would just put a wipe over it to prevent being sprayed

Something I bought but never used was the baby hooded towels. I liked just using ours since they were thicker and softer.
