Should I invite my boss to my baby shower?

I'm a nanny and I really like the family I work for. Would it be rude not to invite the kids' mom to the babyshower? I like her but she doesn't know any of my friends or family and I feel like it would be weird but we do work closely and if I let it slip about the babyshower I don't want her to feel insulted that I didn't invite her. Unless you don't think she'd even be offended? I don't know what to do. Maybe I'm over thinking it.

Re: Should I invite my boss to my baby shower?

  • I say if you like her invite her even if she doesn't know other people she knows you. And probably wants to celebrate with you.

  • I would invite her but let her know that you understand if she can't come.

  • I would definitely invite her... Leave it up to her to come or not... Assuming she would be uncomfortable is not a good reason to exclude someone.
  • I actually happen to be a nanny as well and intend to invite my boss to my baby shower, only difference is that I actually started working for her because she works with my mother. I like her and her kids so for me it's not weird. I think as long as we don't make social situations awkward, they won't be.
If you feel comfortable inviting her, then I say go with it.
  • I'd invite her too. Leave the choice up to her :)
  • I would invite her since you seem to like her remember not everyone is going to show up anyways. Just make sure if she does show up be a good host and don't leave her put of anything.
