TTC after 35

Don't want to test

I am over a month late now.  My last cycle was January 30th.  I have been tired, cranky and now I have a metal taste in my mouth.
For the last few months my cycles have been regular but before that it was all over the place.  The dr said my
vitamin d was low so he told me to take supplement.  Am I nuts.

Re: Don't want to test

  • I don't understand why you don't want to test. You need prenatal care if you are pregnant.
  • Loading the player...
  • Are you not wanting to test because you used to have super long cycles? I'm sorry, I'm on mobile so I can't see your siggy. If you've been regular for a few months and now you're late, you need to test. It's the only way to know. If it's a bfn at least you'll know one way or the other instead of trying to guess what's going on. A month is a long time to be late...

  • I'm confused.  Have you tested at all in the last month?  Why don't you want to test?

  • You are nuts! :)  Just kidding.  You really should test though so that you at least have an idea of what's going on.  I agree with @kindershlitz, if you are pregnant you need prenatal care.

Because every month that I was late in the past before taking the Vitamin D, I ended up with "Not Pregnant"  --- I got upset and then ended up getting my period a week later.  I definitely know about the prenatal care and have been taking vitamins already.

Were you an entire month late before? I understand the letdown and believe me, I get it that you don't want to get your hopes up, but at this point it's important to know! Please take a test, I know you're nervous but please just do it!

ETA I know it gets really hard after awhile getting bfn after bfn. I think most of us here know the feeling. So I hope we don't sound insensitive, we just know that unfortunately it's the only way to find out. It's better to know and move forward than to keep yourself stressed out in limbo. Please let us know what you find out. I hope you get the answer you're looking for. Hugs.

  • Its not a entire month late.  Its two weeks.  Should have came on Feb 26th but nothing yet.

I will probably have to give in and test this weekend.  Thanks, I know want your saying and you are definitely not sounding insensitive.

  • I just saw you said you were only two weeks late...that isn't nearly as bad as an entire month but I still hope you will test. :)

  • @kris-dan - aww I understand.  BFN's every month suck.  2 weeks late isn't as bad as a month late.  I hope you get the answer you are looking for!

  • @kris-dan I totally understand where you are coming from. Bfn hurt so much more than just getting your period.
My cycles have been all over the place in the last 6 months and I've had to test twice and it killed me to see the negative. Go to the dollar store and get a cheapie test and test once a week until you get your period or a BFP.
I truly hope you get a BFP my friend!!!!!

I hope you don't mind me coming in.  Vit D deficiency is linked to infertility issues.  I am not saying this is the cure all. I am Vit D deficient. At one point a couple years ago they wanted to put me on 50,000 units of Vit D.  I started Vit D supplements of 5,000 daily back in Jan and February I got a BFP.  Related? Maybe it is hard to tell. But I would like to think it did the trick.  Test for a piece of mind. I know those BFNs are heartbreaking.  But if you are you can stat getting care and doing right for your pregnancy.

  • Test lady....test!
however i totally get it. I used to be like this the couple times AF was late.

@sonpetitlapin I didn't know Vit D was linked to fertility issues. I have a history of being EXTREMELY deficient. Like my numbers are 12 when i have been tested. I haven't had Vit D tested in some time. I need to have my dr check that

  • @hooligans4  Thanks.  Yeah it does suck.  Sorry to hear you are in the same situation.   With the last 3-4 months being 27-29 day cycles, I thought when I was late with this one it was our month but waiting patiently for it to arrive now so we can try again.  Trying to think positive.

Spoke to the dr just in case and he said that he agrees its a late period and to be patient and not to stress out.  He was glad that I tested and said that it may be just an adjustment.  He did say that I could do 5,000 vitamin d.

  • @kristenAlecia  Yes, it is very interesting!  They are finding it a big link with infertility today since so many people are no Vit D deficient.  They are even finding it important not to be Vit D deficient during pregnancy.  As the deficiency can lead to gestational diabetes, pre eclampsia,  low birth weight, etc.

  • Yeah Vitamin D deficient have a big link to getting pregnant and being pregnant.  I didn't know that I was deficient until my doctor checked everything with a blood test.

Oh my gosh. This makes my heart sink. Even with the Vitamins i have a hard time keeping my #'s normal. I wonder if it could cause MC in early PG. I guess there would be no way to know.

  • @KirstenAlecia, you could drive yourself crazy thinking about this.  As you said, there would be no way to know.

How much vitamin D do you take?  Just curious because I take 4000 IU and my endocrinologist said he'd probably up my dose when I get pregnant since I'm still not even close to the high end of normal, so you can actually take a pretty high dose safely (he checks my level frequently).  Get your level checked and dose accordingly going forward.  Please don't dwell on whether it impacted your last pregnancy.  Like I said, that could drive you crazy....   :)

  • @kristenalecia I have not read any indication Vit D deficiency contributes to miscarriage.  @emsmama15 said, you will drive yourself crazy trying to find answers to your early loss and almost all the time, those losses are NOT your fault and result from chromosomal issues.  Nothing in the world can you do about those.  Get you Vit D checked and go from there is you are deficient.

I have had to be Deficient for YEARS. I stayed away from the sun since my mid teens when I saw many of my family members popping up with Melanoma.   I had perfectly healthy and term over 9lbs kids.  I follow the reports on it because I am a diabetic.  I had GD with 2 of my three pregnancies and have cardiac issues with my last take home baby. It is very important to have sufficient Vit D.   It will only help my Diabetic status while pregnant and my cardiac status.

  • You ladies are absolutely right. I need to not dwell.

I take 4000 daily. Ig I feel like Im having muscle spasms or issues like that I take another dose which ups it to 6000.
