Snacks that aren't horrible?

Already in the prego catch 22... I get nauseous if I go too long without eating something, but the only thing that seems to fill me up is carbs! Can't keep eating like this or I'm going to end up gaining 50 lbs... Need healthy, but filling snack ideas - help!

Re: Snacks that aren't horrible?

  • Granola, nuts, yogurt cups, whole fresh fruit, odwalla bars... I take at least 3 of these to work every day for snacks. I don't care if I eat every hour if I need to, I eat as much dairy, fruit and nuts as I want all day! Odwalla bars can be expensive so I only buy a few for every couple weeks. The Special K strawberry yogurt cereal bars are so addictingly good and cheaper than odwalla if you'd like.

  • Trail mix is my savior. There's a CVS near my work and they have a lot of different kinds. My doc says to focus on protein, that will be filling and is more nutritious than carbs.
  • I am loving trail mix, yogurts, special k raspberry cheesecake bars, unsalted cashews, and mini blueberry muffins from aldi. Seriously. My favorite snacks right now. I'm actually having a yogurt right now. Actually, it's my second. First I had banana cream pie and I just had to try the new caramel flavor! :)
  • Kashi pita chips and hummus are great. I have also eaten mixed nuts a lot.
  • I am doing well with cheese sticks and wheat thins. I also like hummus with blue corn chips or baby carrots.
  • Popcorn (not microwave). Buy kernels and brown lunch sacks. You can cook popcorn in bag in microwave without oil. Add some salt and I can't believe it's not butter spray... Good to go
  • I've been eating bananas! I too crave the carbs and have some graham crackers on hand too! Also have been eating Greek yogurt with the bare naked vanilla almond granola.
  • @Lhesseydvm craziness! I've been eating the same things! Haha.
  • Cheese and grilled chicken strips
  • Dried mango strips ...apple sauce..... Free and purple cabbage ( weird one I know ) Ooo and cucumbers

  • Cottage cheese and pineapple.. Too much dairy bothers me but it makes me so happy lol
  • I have the same problem too. Carbs are way easier on my tummy, by I find that I handle protein better when it's cold. The key for me has been to center my meals around a healthy carb (veggies, fruit etc.) and add protein and good fats to it.

smoothie with some protein powder in it - frozen berries, yogurt, protein powder and water or juice
cut up fruit with a string cheese
    an apple with peanut butter
green salad with some almonds and (pasteurized) goat cheese
    Kind bars
    Yogurt
    Cold chicken salad
    Hummus and veggies
Spinach dip and veggies - use Greek yogurt and low fat cream cheese to make it lighter

    Hope this helps!
