Stretch Marks & Weight Gain

Hi all.. Very early to ask but it's on my mind. I am 5ft tall and always struggle with my weight. I have stretch marks from weight gain in the past. This is #1 for us and I was hoping 2+ time mommas could give me some tips on managing any stretch marks from worsening. What works and what not to spend any money on. Thank you in advance! Blessings to all us November Mommas!

  • I heard you have to pay for the good stuff...I'm working on figuring out the good stuff!

  • I have stretch marks from my first pregnancy and I used stretch mark lotion daily. I went all the way until he dropped with no stretch marks then bam there they were. My ob said stretch marks are genetic and no amount of lotion will prevent them. Rule of thumb usually is if your mom got them you probably will too. Good luck and embrace them

  • With my first i filled up all over. Stretchmarks and did not gain that much weighT. And i used lotin. I meen when i found out I was pregnant the next day i used pregnancy lotion. Stil...no use. Now i'm using pure coconut oil hoping to not have any new ones......there is no place for new ones....but you never know....so if you have good skin you might get lucky.
  • @nmpcev it's based on genetics unfortunately since you've had them you may get them with pregnancy. Try coco butter cream twice a day. Slow weight gain by eating healthy and not "eating for two" will help lessen the risk - my doctor's recommend 200-300 extra calories a day that's it. So I added an extra snack to my normal healthy diet and that was it last time. I gained the recommended (for me) 30 +lbs but at an even pace and had a healthy 7 lbs 5 oz baby. Good luck and no worries if you have stretch marks from this little Miracle - it will be worth it and will remind you of the love you had while carrying him:her.
  • If you are going to get them, you are going to get them. You can sit in a bath of cocoa butter/ bio oil your entire pregnancy and you will still get them if you are predisposed.

I got them really bad with my first. almost 3 years later you can barely see them (of course that will change in a few months)

  • It's expensive, but I used Neutrogena Vitamin E Oil every day after shower and any time I felt itchy. I'm currently pregnant with my third and have only two stretch marks on my lower back where I never thought to put lotion. Try not to scratch whatever you do because that's supposedly what starts the tearing.
  • You might as well be my twin, I'm five feet tall and always struggled with my weight like pps have said its essentially genetic no amount of lotion cheap or expensive...and I tried them all will make them go away
