sleep issues

My son is 18 months old and wakes up nightly. Most often it is around 12-1 and he will scream for a minute and go back to sleep, other times it will be 10 minutes of on and off crying and about every other week or so it might be on and off for 30 minutes or more. We only go and check if it gets really bad (like tonight) This is not a regression because he has done it since before he was one. He is also not hungry, wet, or thirsty. Has anyone had a similar problem that they were able to solve?

My 3 year old wakes up and yells out sometimes. I don't go in unless he's calling for me. You might not ever figure it out so hopefully it just passes and if it doesn't, hopefully everyone still gets decent sleep.

My kids are good eaters, early walkers, and late talkers and lousy sleepers. For our family 1x a night is expected and a relief.

I noted that at 17m my DD slept all night in crib, but it was a first and I am pretty sure an infrequent thing. At 2y4m DD climbed out of her crib and we switched her to a mattress. Then when she woke up overnight she could come to us and we'd co-sleep. At 3y we got a tot clock and she knows to stay in her room while it's blue (sleep) and come to us when it's yellow (wake). So she still gets up 1 time most nights (early morning), but it's not disruptive to us - and more and more often she sleeps through in her bed until morning "cuddle time" (6am). My DS is 15m and was getting up 4x a night (cold, teething) last week and is now just 1x a night. Given his molars are up next, I don't expect that to last long.
