I don't have problems with morning sickness, but brushing my teeth is the worst! It makes me gag and dry heave. And my stomach feels like it's in knots for about 5 minutes or so. Which is horrible because lately I feel the need to brush my teeth about 4 times a day to keep the food taste out of my mouth! Anyone else have this issue? Or any tips? Anything and everything is greatly appreciated!
I remember someone mentioning that they started using Barbie cotton candy flavored toothpaste because they couldn't handle the mint taste of normal toothpaste. Maybe try that?
I can't handle mint toothpaste, I have to use cinnamon. Brushing in the morning is a million times worse than brushing at night. But if I don't brush in the morning I get sick from the morning breath.
I had this with my first and I have it again. Gag reflex is bad. I hope this isn't tmi but the husband isn't getting any you know what for awhile either...
Ugh, brushing my teeth makes me actually throw up every single day! I had the same thing when I was pregnant with DD, too. I dread it, but I honestly haven't figured out anything that works to help it.
I either gag or throw up every time I brush. I changed my toothpaste, got a toothbrush with a smaller head and brush all of my teeth on the outside and front first, I do the inner back teeth last so at least if I gag I don't have to keep brushing. And I don't brush my tongue anymore because it makes me throw up. I use a fluoride rinse and water pik instead of floss.

I did, gagged and threw up. That was the end of that...

Brushing my tongue is the worst!!! I'm going to Target today anyway so I'm going to try a different toothpaste, non-mint. And get a fluoride rinse because this is gross. Thank you so much for all your suggestions!
I had that problem my first pregnancy for about the first 12 weeks and the last couple weeks. I would lightly brush with mouthwash and that seemed to help, but I did still gag sometimes.

I dread every morning when I have to brush my teeth. I use to get ready with DH in the morning for work, but now I have to wait until he's out because I know I'm about to have a puke fest. The worst :-&
I thought it was just me! I'm over 10 weeks and it has seemed to have subsided now. I haven't had any nausea so the fact that brushing my teeth made me gag was so odd. Thanks for sharing!
This makes me gag also. I've only actually puked 3x after brushing my teeth but i always gag when i brush my tongue. If i don't have to be anywhere in morning i try to eat before brushing teeth & that seems to help. I am 9w3d & either things are easing up or i'm just getting better at avoiding situations/smells/food that make me sick
Me too! Not gonna lie last night I just used mouth wash cuz I knew I would throw up if I brushed. Heading into week 8 this weekend and sickness is getting worse. I'll do anything to keep food in my stomach.
I started using my son's toothpaste and for whatever reason, it's helping! I'm so hoping this goes away around 12 weeks! I'm 10 weeks 1 day now. So come on second trimester!
Yeah, both my first pregnancy and this one I have a hardcore gag reflex. Even just thinking about brushing my teeth or swallowing pills or something like that makes me gag! I have to use lots of water and be super quick taking all my pills and vitamins in the mornings! And as for brushing teeth, I just do it as fast as I can and only do the front of my tongue instead of the whole thing.
Lol, I've had gagging/dry heaving and tummy in knots for minutes after teeth brushing ALL MY LIFE but only on morning brushing. It's a bit worse now I'm pregnant but I've always thought I was a bit weird with this issue.
Re: Hate Brushing my Teeth!
I had the same thing with my first pregnancy. This time I legit throw up.
