For my next cycle my doctor strongly suggested that I transfer two of my 5day blastocysts. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. Can anyone share some their experiences with me?
I had two transferred, 5 day blasts in a FET cycle. ended in CP. my sister who has my same issues and now has two (singletons) from about 7 total IVF cycles always had three, 3day embryos, transferred. my next cycle we are planning to fresh transfer 2-3, 3-day embryos.
for me personally I was willing to take the risk of having both stick just because of my age (35) and my dr. seemed confident I could handle it if both took. as for the next transfer, again, because of my age and statistics for multiples with 2-3 embryos being transferred for my age range, we are willing to go for it. chances of multiple birth with even three embryos for my age range is really low.
it's all such a tough choice! best wishes while figuring it all out, it's never easy navigating all these decisions related to IVF.
2nd time we transferred 2 3 day we had DD and a vanishing twin. Next time 2 3 day nothing 2 5 day nothing Fresh cycle 2 5 day ectopic 3 5 day triplets (started quads) Fwiw I was 28 years old the first time and 30 the second
No periods due to 17 years of ballet and distance running after college. Zero response to 2 months of Clomid, little response to Letrozole. IUI left with 9 cysts = too many viable eggs due to age. On to IVF. Low dose of all meds still produced 37 mature eggs 12.6.11. Froze due to overstimulation.
FET #1.1 1.22.12 BFN. FET #1.2 2.22.12=GRACE! (and a vanishing twin).

My clinic generally does 5 day transfers only. For IVF #1 none of our embryos made it to blast so our transfer was cancelled. For IVF #2 we only had one embryo make it to blast. We transferred that embryo and it resulted in a chemical pregnancy. IVF #3 we had 2 embryos make it to blast. We transferred both and the cycle was a BFN. We decided to try a FET with donor embryos. We received 9 donor embryos (6 frozen on day 2 and 3 frozen as blasts). We thawed the day 2 embryos and attempted to grow them to blast. Only one developed much and it was a morula on day 5. We decided to thaw our blasts as well and 2 survived the thaw. We transferred both blasts and the morula and the cycle failed. In November we gave IVF one last try with a new RE and immune treatments. We had to convert to a freeze all due to lining issues. We planned on transferring both during our FET in January, but we were cancelled due to lining issues. We plan on transferring both during our upcoming FET in April.
You never know what will happen, but my best advice is that if you transfer 2 be prepared for twins (possibly more if any of the embryos split). Our most successful cycle was a single embryo transfer (resulted in a chemical pregnancy).

We transferred 6 and 1 took. We were ready for twins so we just went for it. I'm so glad we did.
