Re: Heartburn! home remedies ?

  • Not sure I have any advice. I've been taking tums. I carry a thing in my purse and eat one after dinner mostly. Hopefully you find some relief soon!

  • Popsicles kind of work for me, for a little while. But what works best is the medication my doctor prescribed.
  • I've been drinking warm milk with honey and sitting mostly up in a recliner and it seems to be helping for most of it.
  • Ice cream!
  • Sipping ginger ale, shooting apple cigar vinegar (or normal), or eating a spoonful of mustard helps in a pinch.
  • Candied/crystallized ginger works for me. I keep Tums (the smoothies variety) handy too. Spoonful of ice cream helps. Also heard pickles work, but haven't tried that.
  • Nothing works for me besides tums smoothies- they're miracle workers!
  • Zantac 150 is AWESOME, but hot ginger tea has also helped me a lot. And make sure you're sitting up as well.
  • I pop tums like candy, combined with milk at night and it usually eases it for the half hour or so it takes me to fall asleep. I've been struggling with lava mouth half the pregnancy and nothing really works. Sorry :( at least it'll be over soon. No heartburn is one of the things I'm most looking forward to after Baby is born :)
  • Mints! Lol those are the only thing that work for me. I get reflux really bad, and as soon as I eat a mint, it's almost instant relief.
  • Still eating Tums with pepcid regularly and struggling! I always have cold water by my side to wash down the really bad waves and trying to sleep on left side because the right side makes it worse due to the way everything sits in there
  • Just woke up with the usual midnight heartburn so I popped a Gaviscon (stronger than Tums). I was also prescribed ranitidine (Zantac) by my MW, which helps if taken twice a day. Mostly, it is avoiding chocolate, caffeine, spicy food, acidic food, and tomatoes that will help. Sigh....heartburn is also the thing I will miss the least about being pregnant.
  • So, I recently found out that papaya works wonders for heartburn. You can eat the fruit itself or take papaya extract pills. I've been having to pop tums in the middle of the night bevause that's when the heartburn is worst for me. I made myself a papaya smoothie the other day and had no heartburn at all. I'd be interested to know if anyone else tries this and it works for them too.
  • i was going to say papaya too.

Also, DoTerra make an oil blend called DigestiZen or something like that; a drop rubbed on your belly works well.
  • That was me with my first. Papaya enzymes, eating smaller portions, and actually drinking a small amount of vinegar can help. (You can dilute a little apple cider vinegar in h20). My midwife just told me a good one the other day- wait until 30 minutes before and after eating to drink a big glass of water. Also everyone said tums above but I have found a liquid calcium supplement to be more effective. Good luck, I know it can be MISERABLE
