I have been searching for someone in my area to do this quilt for me but I just cannot fathom spending $500 on a quilt but wanted to know if anyone in here has some great advice for making a quilt like this.
I quilt. But I have never done one of these keepsake quilts.
I don't sell my quilts bc if I did I would have to charge $500 plus to actually make money. The material, and time that goes into a quilt is consuming. For instance this is a quilt that I am working on right now...for the material I probably spent $120. Just for one block (I'll need 12) I spent an hour and a half on cutting and sewing. If I want to get it professionally quilted it will be another $100.
Even though you are providing the material, it will take a lot of time to cut and place it to make it look cohesive

thanks for the insight, I have sewn before but nothing to the quilt extreme lol I have been watching videos on Youtube.com lol to try and teach myself how to properly do it but have not come across this type yet. What material do you suggest on attaching the clothes to? @laurendutch
Something like this would be easy for a beginner...the only trouble that you may experience is sewing with knits (what a lot of baby clothes material).
If you want it exactly like the picture you like, I would suggest cutting the clothing in half (front/back). You can buy basting spray at a craft store and spray it onto the cotton (white or pink). Then you would just sew around the edges. To make it a little more manageable I would do it in blocks like 20 by 20. It will be a little easier to visualize. And then add those blocks together.
Maybe you could go to a quilt shop near you and see if you could hire someone to help you. Say you met with someone once a week for an hour or two, and they told you what to do and then you went home and did it. That might be a reasonable way to get a good quality outcome without having to spend as much as hiring someone to do it all for you.

You can also do 6 in blocks and do a patchwork like quilt. Then just add a few outfits whole.
