Long Car Ride

If there is already a post about this I apologize in advance, but I didn't see anything when I looked around.

My husband and I are youth pastors and are taking several of our students on a Spring Break missions trip to Chicago. I'm looking forward to the trio, but not the 8 van ride. Has anyone traveled this late in the game (I will be 26 weeks) in a car? I know that it is doable, I'm more looking for suggestions on how to make it more comfortable.

Re: Long Car Ride

  • Get out and stretch every hour to avoid blot clots. Don't cross your legs and try to move your feet around (these are all tips I got from my OB about flying, but same applies for car rides). If you are experiencing back pain, being pillows or other things to help support your back. Drink plenty of water as well. Have fun!

  • stop and get out of the car as frequently as possible. you most likely will be uncomfortable regardless. my family lives 5 hours away. I have taken many of these trips. Getting up and walking around as often as you can is the best thing.
  • Some OBs will recommend a baby aspirin, too, to help prevent clots. But talk to your dr about this before taking anything.

  • Thank you all for the advice! I have an appointment right before I leave so I will ask about the baby aspirin :)
  • Hi @madelynnschmidt just one suggestion: if your username is your real name at all, I'd recommend changing it for Internet safety reasons. We share a lot of personal stories here so better safe than sorry!
  • I did 6 hours.. My feet swole up... The only time that ever happened... Get out stretch.. Have DH rub them often...
