I am 24wks, high risk with a cerclage and on weekly progesterone shots. I suffer from frequent migraines and to top it off have the PUPP rash again....my MFM has made several reccomendations to my attending OB and she has yet to follow any of his orders. I am considering changing doctors, but is it to late in the game?

Nope! It's crucial that you're with a doctor who makes you feel comfortable and addresses your needs. If they're not being helpful now, do you really think they should deliver your baby? But it would definitely be better to make the switch sooner rather than later so you can establish a better relationship with whoever you do end up choosing for this important job.

ETA: I also switched around 16 weeks I think. Obviously quite a bit earlier in the game, but the peace of mind that I've had since then has been so wonderful.

  • Switch - it is absolutely not too late and you deserve to have an OB who is not going to blow off your high risk specialist. You need to advocate for yourself and your baby and if you don't have confidence in your OB, you should find someone else. Tell your MFM that you are frustrated with the care your OB is providing and ask for recommendations. Good luck!
  • I switched at 20 weeks and I am really happy with my decision.

Personally, I would be following the MFM's advice. They see high risk situations all the time and are a little more conscious.
  • I switched barely (27weeks) cause mine is retiring apparently I actually really like the new guy too so that calmed my nerves.
  • Sorry to hear you're having to deal with that! I have a friend who just switched at 28 weeks. Better late than never!
