Had my first ultrasound today. Measured in at 7w2d. Heartbeat 130. I was very thankful to see a good HB after having a miscarriage last spring. In addition there were three other 'dark spots' under the gestational sac (two visible in image below). My doctor said she wasn't too worried, but didn't know what it was. She has scheduled me for another scan in 2 weeks to check on things. I did some googling and haven't found anything worrisome. Just curious if anyone has seen this before. . .
Honestly it looks like you could have been carrying triplets judging from the two empty sac. Theres something called vanishing twin that happens when you can't sustain the life of the other children. Don't tale my word for it though look it up or ask your doctor
I had my 7w 3d ultrasound last week and had one dark spot. Ob said a blood vessel burst but everything was ok, he said it happens. Just take it easy and don't lift anything heavy.
It is most likely a liquid, probably blood but I'm not an expert. It's interesting though, could you imagine triplets!?
*Formerly peainthepod?* TTC since 1/1/2006. All cycles BFN! IUI's & IVF with no luck. Emergency surgery 11/07 due to hemmoraging cyst on left ovary. 3rd HSG showed complete blockage of right tube (the good side), endo/cysts/adhesion removal 11/11. New start for 2012! Surprise BFP 6/17/12, due 2/12/13. It's a boy!!! Baby Boy born on January 26, 2013.
I had similar and the doc said it was blood from what would have been my period...put me as a threatened miscarriage (not to scare you darling!) but it should reabsorb :-bd i saw this at 6w2d. But maybe it was triplets!!
Thanks everyone! The thought that there may have been 3 or 4 early on is a little scary. So far just one heart beat. . . I'll let you know what we see in a week.
Same thing happened to me!! I have two gestational sacs, so twins but my doc found another "spot". He looked at it for a long time & believes it is either just some cervical fluid, a blood clot or could have been a triplet that is vanishing. He said it is measuring much smaller than the other two so he doubts it is anything viable. I have to go back on Thursday to check things out. Strange, huh? In any event, if it is just fluid it isn't threatening to the other two babies.

Thanks!! It's nice to know I'm not the only one. I'm hoping for one strong healthy heartbeat. If there's two, then double the excitement. If there's more than two i'll be terrified. Based on the size of my spots compared to the healthy one I imagine they are empty.
I had my follow up scan today. Unfortunately there was no longer a heartbeat. I have an appointment tomorrow with my doctor to discuss everything. I had a D&C last spring and I'm hoping to avoid another one solely to prevent any additional scaring. It really sucks to go through this again let alone at all. I know it's a part of life, but it's still hard. Hopefully since this is my second we can start exploring if there is something that can be fixed to help us have a healthy, full term pregnancy.
Thank you all so much for your support. It really has helped. My doctor said that I should do fine with inducing the miscarriage instead of doing another D&C. If I'm up for it, she asked me to collect tissue for testing. So I have my meds and biohazard containers. I will get things started Saturday morning. I have ready a few blogs about other women's experiences with cytotec to induce miscarriage. Hopefully it all goes well.
Thanks again for your thoughts and support! It has warmed my heart.
