Trying to Get Pregnant

False positive

started using wondfo test strips 7 DPO since I started having a symptoms pretty much right off the bat. yesterday at 11 DPO I saw a faint double line and told DH, full of joy, but he made me take it again just to be sure. Second test was negative. Took another two this morning and both negative. Did this happen to anyone else? I read that half of all fertilized eggs don't go on to embryos and I'm worried that's what happened with me.

Re: False positive

  • A few questions...
Did you see the line within the time frame as indicated in the test?
What kind of test was it?
Was it pink or blue dye?
Are you charting your temps to confirm ovulation?
Fyi, you cannot have symptoms caused by pregnancy "right off the bat" because it takes 7-9 days for the fertilized egg to travel down the Fallopian tube and implant. Phantom symptoms are very convincing for everybody, but they do not mean you're pregnant.
I'm sorry you got a positive, then negative. That sucks. But the only thing you can do is wait a day or two and test again. Good luck.

  • It happened to me right before I miscarried. I tested everyday from 12 DPO and some tests were positive, some were negative. It was very confusing and frustrating. Wait a few days and try again.
  • When you tested the times and got a negative, what time of day did you do them? Depending on the pregnancy test some are capable of picking up very low levels of hormone. Your first urine of the day would likely have the highest levels of the hormone... that might not show up positive on tests later in the day (until your hormones have increased enough). Something similar happened to me with my daughter and that was the explanation I got from RE.
I agree with previous posts...wait a couple days and test again. I sure hope for you that you will get a BFP again.

  • Hi everyone. Thanks for the kind words. I tested first thing yesterday morning(+) yesterday afternoon (-) and twice this morning (both -). They were pink handled tests. I was not charting temp but I have always had slight pain when I am ovulating (went to the doctor at 13 and still happens) and we TTC everyday/every other day for a week.

What brand were the tests? What color were the lines on the test. Blue dye tests are known to have false positives.
I also have ovulation pain, but I learned by charting my temp that I could have o pain upto 3 days before to 3 days after the actual day of ovulation. Without charting, you don't really know when you ovulated.
