Can't feel my contractions

went to hospital for some fluids for dehydration and while being hooked up to monitor I learned I was contracting every 6-8 minutes and couldn't feel them. I am 3 1/2 cm and if I'm a 4 by my next appt I will be admitted due to poly. But has anyone else not felt their contractions being dilated?

Re: Can't feel my contractions

  • I didn't with my first pregnancy. I went into PTL with him at 35 weeks and the only thing that made me call my dr was I was spotting. I didn't know how much and how close I was contracting until I was hooked on the monitor and saw them on the screen. I was 2 cm dilated

  • I am a FTM and 39 weeks. Today I went in for itching. I had my blood taken to check my liver enzymes but was also hooked up to a monitor and had a stress test. I was contracting and I'm 2cm and 100 effaced. I haven't felt many, but said dr said we would see our baby girl in a couple days. Good luck to you!!!
  • I didn't feel the earl contractions that help dialate with #1 until I went into labor so it's not super unusual
  • Yep just got hooked up to the monitor today (in three days past due) and although I'm not dialated at all I was surprised to find out I am having contractions. I had no idea! Sometimes I can feel a tightening sensation but I figured that was probably baby movement and sometimes the monitor would show I was having a contraction and I couldn't feel anything. So yes pretty normal and from what I understand absolutely not an indication of what is to come. Doc says in the beginning they're so minor it's pretty common not to feel them. Still, its exciting that there's progress happening! Can't wait to meet my little guy:)
