Baby meal prep?

Im finding myself scrambling to be cooking meals for my LO- I do make most of her food, less puffs and a couple of times we used jarred organic food when we had no meal ready and or were traveling unexpectedly.

I'd like to start twice a week prepping her meals so we just pull out whatever she's eating and start eating- but that hasn't happened yet! Any other ideas? How far in advance are you prepping meals if you make them yourself?

Re: Baby meal prep?

  • We mostly feed LO what we are eating and that helps a lot. I'm planning to start freezing some veggie /fruit purees that I can feed him in reusable pouches as well, so I hope that will be something I can do in large batches and just thaw as needed.

  • She pretty much eats what we are eating. I will hard boil some eggs for her to bring to daycare for breakfast; and will scramble eggs to give her for dinner if she will be eating something different. I always make sure to make a little extra for leftovers for her for lunch at daycare.
I freeze extra veggies for later if I have any extra that I cooked.
  • I have some finger foods that are go to and separate things into 4oz snack containers - peas, steamed and diced mixed veggies, diced fruits. You could even do one with diced chicken breast youve baked ahead of time and with pastas like elbow macaroni or rotini pasta. Those are all things you can cook ahead of time and add different sauce or spice to for variation, then separate into the tiny containers to grab quickly and make meals.
  • LO eats mostly what we are eating. Sometimes DH and I are late eating, so I'll make something easy for LO to keep him on schedule: grilled cheese, French toast, a chicken nugget and steamed veggies. I don't prep anything ahead of time.

  • Yup, she eats what we do. Has from the start. The only exception is that she loves the damn fruit pouches, so I usually let her have one as a snack.
  • The baby eats at 5:30 and we don't eat til 7:30, so I often thaw frozen vegetables (peas, squash cubes, sweet corn, etc) in a ramekin in the microwave and give a puree or some wheat bread as well. I don't have a big eater, though.
  • Same ahe eats a couple hours earlier than us. I also cook healthier more well rounded meals for her, slacking on us lately. I just need to prep more, gonna pick a couple days a week and make enough for the next few days. My LO is a huge eater!!! And she's tiny! We do a meat chicken with a veg maybe a side of a pureed fruit to help with the protein. Prunes have to happen at least once per day to keep us regular!!
