day to day

What is everyones day like? Does you LO still sleep alot during the day? What do you do to entertain them while they are awake?do you get your household "chores" done? Whats your bedtime for your LO? STTN yet? How old?

Re: day to day

  • Dude usually gets up at 7ish and day consists of feedings, changing, alert time (about 5 hours total) when we do tummy time, walks around the house, books and singing, bath, etc., and about 2-3 naps. He goes to bed about 7ish pm, and wakes 2x per night, around 1am and 5 am. He will be 8 wks Sunday.

Oh, and if it's a day where I'm able to put him down during naps, I'm able to wash bottles and do a load of laundry. :). Sound about right?

  • Baby wakes up at 6 or 630 after that everyday is the same just stay home feed change diapers play with my baby love.
One thing is that im paranoid with everything I worry about everything :(
  • 8 weeks. Wake for the day at 9. Eat 9, 11, 3, 5, 7, & 9. Go to bed after 9'oclock feeding. She normally wakes to eat at 3:30 and either 5:30 or 7:30. She naps after the 11'oclock feeding for three hours. Nighttime sleep and her main nap are in her crib swaddled. Any other naps during the day are normally in the swing or bouncer.
I get chores done during naptime. The saying "the dishes will wait" drives me nuts! They will wait, and wait, until yor house smells and you have no dishes to eat from. I would rather get them done during the day so I can have a few minutes in the evening with my DH.
  • The whole chores can wait drives me insane. Yes they can for a few like if he has a fussy day they don't HAVE to get done that day but they can't just wait all the time. With a dog and chinchilla we'd be living in more filth than I care to discuss. Laundry then little guy would have no clothes with all the spitting up and agree with the dishes thing. Also I can't cook if all dishes are dirty.
  • Agreed with not letting the "chores" wait. Both my fiance and I work full time so the time we have with LO in the evening and on weekends is precious. I don't want to waste it catching up on cleaning and laundry. I'll just do it everyday when there's just a little bit.
  • Our days are rather chaotic. I have a four year old cyclone as well as the baby twins. I make my four year old top priority as he is the one who will remember this time... also, the girls are super fussy. The scream and cry regardless of if they are being doted upon or not.
I do the best I can keeping up with the chores. There are some that always get done, like the dishes and things that will smell... but some things get out on the back burner, like picking up toys and the random clutter mess. So
My house generally looks like a bomb went off in it, but at least it doesn't stink. ;)

Pretty much we take everything a step at a time, do a lot of damage control, and hope everyone is alive at the end of the day.

  • My LO will be 8 weeks on Wednesday. I'm a ftm and told I'm lucky because he from 8pm to 4am, wakes up to eat and then goes back to sleep until around 8am. Throughout the day he eats about every 2.5 hrs and naps on and off for about half of the other times

As for entertaining a baby it's just a mixture of tummy time, stroller walks and introducing different toys to see what he likes best. Often I try to wear him in the moby and do chores, especially when he is fussy and I would be walking him around anyway. It's not easy trying to keep a young baby who can't interact too much busy.

69 Thoughts We've All Had While Drunk

  • My baby is 10 weeks old. He wakes up for the day anywhere between 5:30-6am which works since I have two bigger kids to feed and get off to school. Usually he nurses and goes back to sleep around 8-9am. Three days per week I work from home from 9:00-1:00 so I always cross my fingers he sleeps a couple of those hours. If not, it's a nightmare and I just juggle the best I can! On my days off, I try to do my weekly cleaning plus any errands. I don't function well in a messy house so cleaning is at the top of my priority list, over sleep at least. I also try to fit 30 minutes of exercise in most days so sometimes that is a walk with the baby or hitting the weights/treadmill when my husband gets home. My little one is a crappy night time sleeper. He goes down around 10pm and wakes up every 2-3 hours until his morning wake up time. Many days I feel like I'm just keeping my head above water.
  • Sounds like a lot of you mom's have a nighttime routine down already. My LO is 8 weeks old & I am just now thinking of getting into a bedtime routine. My LO gets up 6 or 7am to feed then sleeps again until about 9am. She is usually a happy baby in the morning so I can get some breakfast eaten while she just hangs out cooing & exploring her hands with her mouth. Then it is a day of feedings, diaper changes and tummy time. I too hate the saying of "nap when baby naps, the chores can wait" No they cannot. The dishes are not going to clean themselves, the food isn't going to cook itself, etc. Most days I can get chores done in the afternoon while my LO naps. I don't usually get a shower in until the afternoon but thankfully I do get some me time to clean up!
  • Just curious, are all you with babies who sleep in, in rooms with blackout curtains? I don't have them because I like to wake up with natural light, but the kid is up with the sun! I'm lucky if he sleeps till 6. Perhaps I'll put some curtains or shades in the nursery for when he makes the switch from the bassinet. At least it won't be hard getting up early when I'm back to work.

  • Sleep when they sleep and chores can wait isn't realistic unless you have a lot of help. DH and Indont have family near by to come cook a meal or clean our house. Very unrealistic for me. And I don't feel happy in a dirty/messy home.

  • We have a nanny who comes a few hours a day who allows me to get some of my things done - it's really worth it. We also have a maid coming in every other week for a deep clean. SO worth it.
  • My day is almost identical to NELSMD
Except my girly is 11 weeks but was 6 weeks prem. so I have no idea what she should be going but she's darn cute!!!
  • I've been so lucky. LO is such a creature of habit. He's 9 weeks. Only bad part is if his schedule gets messed up it really makes him cranky. Mostly my day goes like this...

We wake up between 8-9 every morning. Bottle at 10 then we play or if it's nice out go for a walk. Between 12-1230 he's ready for his nap which lasts until he's ready for his 2 pm bottle. Then we play until 4 when he's ready for another nap. This nap can last until 6 pm bottle or only an hour or less. Just depends how tired he is. 6 pm bottle and then we do baby yoga and he plays with DH until 8 when he gets his reflux medicine and then bath. Then he has bottle around 930. Bedtime around 10. He sleeps until about 4 am bottle then he usually Wakes up again at 7 for another bottle but he never finishes it before falling asleep. Then we do it all again.

I'm sure now that I've bragged about how good he is he will throw a monkey wrench in our routine lol.
  • I'd cry if my kid was up with the sun, I don't know how you ladies do it! Both kids (4yr old and 2 MO old) go to bed at 10 with us every night. Dd2 wakes up like once in the middle of the night around like 4 or 5 eats and back to sleep til 9. Then eats about every 2 or 3 hours. Dd1 usually doesn't get up until 930-10 she eats and kind of does her own thing and will play with dd2 when she's awake. Stuff gets done when dd2 is sleeping or with my dad. If dh is home, which is often lately he will hold the babe while I do whatever needs to get done or he will just clean if I'm with the kids. Dd2 hangs out in her swing, play mat or on someone most of the day. Usually around 7 every night dd gets fussy and wants to go up in our room, so I take her up and she doses in and out and then finally conks out for the night between 9:30-10. We are very go with the flow and the kids have made their own routine that works for all of us.

My LO is so calm and easy going. He's12 wks.he is staying awake about 10-12 hours a day. He wakes up about 11 am and eats. After he plays in his crib for about 30 min he love watching his mobile and kicking his piano. While I get washed up and clean up the bedroom& bathroom (make bed, sweep, mop, hand wash his dirty clothes). Then he either has 20 minutes tummy time or 30 minutes on his play mat and eats again(exercising always makes him hungry). He'll then take a 2-3 hour nap. The rest of the day consists of tummy time, playing with a mirror, singing, reading, playmat, dancing with mommy, exercise with mommy, baby massage, seating up, several nap ranging between 20 minutes to 3 hours and feeding on demand roughly every 30 minutes to 2 hours and last between 20 minutes to an hour. During his naps I'm able to do the rest of the laundry, dishes, cooking, paperwork(my husband and I have our own business; I'm now staying home full time and only able to help with the book work), dusting and cleaning/ sanitizing baby toys and playmat. Around 10pm we start getting ready for bed with bath time, a little wind down playtime, daddy gets home about 11:30 and spends about 30 minutes together. At 12:30 he gets another feeding that last over an hour until he falls asleep. He'll wake up 2 times at night while sleeping 4 and 6 hours at a time.

Shortly after he was born he was put into the hospital. Since then I have learned to make the most of our time together and to enjoy every little moment.
