Curious on OB Appointments

I'm just wondering how often y'alls OB's schedule your visits. I see the nurse practitioner every four weeks. When it's time for an ultrasound, the monthly appointment is replaced with an ultrasound done by my OB--not a technician or the nurse practitioner. Because they are just once a month, my husband has been able to come to every one so far.

How do your appointments go?

Re: Curious on OB Appointments

  • Usually at this point they are every 4 weeks.  Mine this time have been all over the place.  Between the 1st and 2nd visit it was 2 weeks because my BP was high and they sent me for some other tests and wanted to review the results with me.  Then is was back to 4 weeks.  Between my last apt and my next one it will only be 3 weeks but only because that was when I could get the anatomy scan scheduled for and they didn't want me to have to come back only a week later.

  • I see my OB. I'm suppose to go every four weeks, but because mine andd the Drs schedule have been out of sync I so far only gone twice about every 5 weeks...I will be 17 weeks on Wednesday and will have my third visit next tue the 17th
  • Mine are every 4 weeks. We always see the OB for at least a few minutes where she answers questions and checks the heartbeat and/or our scan results (a nurse does the routine work, like any required blood draw, and an ultrasound tech does the scan if we have one). At 28 weeks we start going every 2 weeks, then after 36 weeks we go every week. I think this is pretty standard.
  • Oh, okay! I was just getting a little confused since it seemed many posters saw their OB multiple times a month.

Thanks for the responses! I guess I'm just seeing the nurse practitioner instead of the OB because I was on the practitioner's schedule for my yearlies before I got pregnant.

  • My appointments are every two weeks at the hospital for ultrasounds and a check up by the specialists there and every four weeks at my OB's office. I'm high risk though so that's why all the extra times...

I'm not sure if I got the super special 3rd time low risk mom schedule, but this time around I go to the midwife every 6 weeks until 22 weeks, then every 4 until 34, 36, 38, then 39, 40 (and hopefully not, but if necessary 41, 42). Also had a 8 week and will have a 20 week ultrasound in there too.

The people going more often have high risk pregnancies. The schedule I posted is standard if you're low risk and not having complications. Obviously if you have complications you'll go more often. When I miscarried I visited my OB more times before 8 weeks than I have this entire pregnancy (18 weeks so far). If you're not having to go in often, that's good news!!
  • I am seeing a midwife and I see her every 4 weeks until 28 weeks or so then it goes to every 2 weeks and then around 35 weeks it goes to every week
  • Currently every 4-ish weeks but since I can really only go on Mondays sometimes it's every 3 and sometimes it's every 5 depending on my Ob's availability since she also has shifts at the hospital. I would rather just see her so I just adjust to whatever she is available. I think once I hit 3rd trimester it's every 2 weeks and then after 32-ish weeks it's every week? This doesn't include any scheduled ultrasound tests though since that is typically done at a seperate speciality facility. I am not considered high risk. I think if I was it would be every 2 weeks.
