Threads I will not click on

For the most part, I really enjoy this board. From the great advice to the crazy, and the support and drama in between. But sometimes... "I just can't even." So I am personally vowing not to even click on the following types of threads.

(This is me thinking out loud - obviously I am not pretending that me not clicking on these posts has any impact whatsoever on internet strangers, or that my advice or contributions are any great loss to you! They are just time savers for me.)

1. "Help!" It's fortunately less often a serious problem like bleeding, and more often some asinine question about names, ingredients, or any other random. How hard is it to clearly label a thread?! (Or to use common sense or call a doctor?!) I get way too worked up over this, personally - better for me just not to click these posts.

2. Facebook Group. This horse is dead. Stop it.

3. Any separate post about names, besides the weekly thread. Here is seriously where "I just can't even." (Why are these always the people with the worst names, too?!)

4. Mucus plug. No. Just no. NO. Thank goodness those are properly labeled so far.

5. Redundant posts. Oh look, three of the same topic on page one! I can basically guarantee you aren't adding to the conversation if you aren't even reading the conversation.

Anyone else have limits to what you will click on? What am I forgetting here?

(Ok, I am so guilty of long posts. Maybe that's a No for some of you!)

Re: Threads I will not click on

  • I need to just follow the rules you've set for yourself. I'd save myself a LOT of eye rolling!

This is actually a good practice...I'm tempted by a lot of threads, but find no response is the best policy especiallyiof i would rather see them drop off the first page...especially multiple baby names and random symptom x threads.

  • Ugh, my list is growing. Depending on my boredom level I may entertain a few posts... but most days I feel like there is NOTHING worth clicking on. Thanks, new TOU.

  • If we click them do they stay on the front page? Or only if we reply? Cause I want to get behind this, too, but find myself clicking, reading, rolling my eyes, and getting out of there. I thought they only stayed front page news if we replied to it but if I've been doing it wrong I wanna know

I'm 99% sure it's only if we reply. If I'm mistaken in this, someone please correct me.

@mellymar it is just if you reply! But I get myself worked up needlessly, so am cutting down my views (though this stuff is like a train wreck - so hard to look away!)
@lilitaliangirl - was totally afraid to open your thread! Lol, I take back my side eye at you, sorry ;-) thank you for talking sense!
    @MrsWiggleWaggle - yes! Good call:

    6. Random symptom threads. Usually directly above or below the Daily symptoms post. Often with a hint of uninformed paranoia that challenges my ability to believe the post is real. You have swollen fingers, heartburn, and trouble sleeping? In your second trimester?? WEIRD...

Even worse is when they're not only just above the symptoms thread, but are also right by another thread (sometimes more than one!) that are dedicated to the EXACT SAME totally normal symptom. Ugh!

  • I agree with the list, but... I just can't look away from the train wreck sometimes.

I would add the random "good bye" ones.... Not loss ones of course but the ones were people want to get on a soap box about how terrible we all are because we don't like made up names with no syllables etc etc.... But they are usually just way to good not to check out :)

I meant vowels not syllables but probably not important ;)
  • For the love of everything holy, another baby movement thread just appeared. ::Slaps forehead::

  • You know, I hated how the now defected bumpies would just absolutely trash any and every poster the second something like these posts went up. And I hate people being awful to others really just for the fun of it. But man does the post asking for us to weigh in on VAGINAL DISCHARGE drive me up the wall! I know the best thing will be not to reply...but I guess I'm starting to understand the basic instinct to flame the crap out of posts like that.
