Hi! I haven't checked into this board yet, but I am currently 35+5 with a boy.
I have been taking glyburide for fasting levels, however it looks like I will need to up the dosage soon since the levels are on the rise. I am currently doing experiments with the medication. Last night I took it at midnight instead of at 8-9 like I normally do. Although my levels were still a little more elevated than I personally would like, they were still within range. I'm going to try it again tonight to see if I get the same result, or if I just got lucky with numbers.
I really want to use Pampers. I don't know why, but I have my mind set. I think because most people I have spoken to prefer Pampers over others. However, there is a chance we won't be able to, since my mom was unable to use them on me or my siblings. Hopefully this boy will take after his father in the diaper category and will be able to wear anything, allergy wise.
How did it go for you? It's going good now this was a hectic week, started insulin tuesday and was working on getting the right dose . Finally got the dose right on Friday night!
What worked or didn't work? Insulin worked lowering my fasting # which was the thing that was most uncontrolled
Any tips or tricks you found this week? Not really... Just being good.
GTKY: what brand/type of diapers will you be using? Pampers swaddlers Any particular reason? That's what everyone told me was the best!
Gd numbers/symptoms have all been the same for me lately. I am able to cut back testing to only fasting and breakfast. Lunch and supper just need to be spot tested a couple times a week now. I was also told I don't even need to check in anymore unless I have 3 tests above normal.
I will be using pampers swaddlers again. I did for my first and they were the best! Once he grew out of the swaddlers I used pampers cruisers. I can't remember why but I did not care for the pampers baby dry ones.
I'm 33 +4. In the 4 weeks that I've had GD I haven't once had high levels and I've even cheated a few times and had a fast food burger here and a Popsicle there. It's very exciting because I expected high numbers from these and such but didn't get them. I feel lucky but it's making it harder to have he will power to stick with this.
I loved pampers with my first and would prefer to have them again but shopping at Costco which sells huggies in bulk makes it financially easier to get that brand. Found last time that huggies would leak almost every time which sucked
I'm 36 weeks today. My numbers have been trending up the last few days which is really irritating as I'm eating the same 4 or 5 meals on rotation as I have been for weeks. I'm on insulin so I've just upped my doses and that seems to have helped. I've only got a week left before induction so I'm just trying to make it to B Day with my sanity intact!
I've discovered that although the "ice cream as my nightly snack" thing doesn't work for me as it does for a lot of ladies, I can have a nice spoonful a few times a day and because it's less than 5g of carbs it doesn't affect my sugars at all. I've also discovered a place that has AMAZING steak burrito bowls. I might have had 3 of them this week.
I'm planning on pampers swaddlers. I used them with dd 10 years ago and loved them. I hope they are the same. I stuck with pampers pretty much the whole time. She peed right out of huggies even with a clean diaper on and loves gave her a rash.

Let your meter be your guide! Eat what you can get away with while you can. It will likely get harder as you get further along and your insulin resistance increases. So for now just keep an eye out but there's no reason to restrict yourself more than you need to!

Sounds like we are in a similar situation :-). So frustrating!!
How did it go for you? Better than last week! They upped my pill dosage and instead of being a few points over i'm just on 6.7 after 2 hours which makes me feel much better. What worked or didn't work? I'm still not sure what my body is doing, cake(there was a birthday) , steak, veggies, salad all seems to put it up about the same amount. Any tips or tricks you found this week? Nope! mainly the pills.
GTKY: what brand/type of diapers will you be using? Any particular reason? (Australian) Huggies and babylove. I've heard that ones good for poop but one holds more overall so i'm going to try both out!
How did it go for you? This week my numbers were slightly higher. Not anything crazy (126 was my highest) but for the past 2 weeks I've been awesome. I guess because I'm getting further along at 35 weeks 4 days.
What worked or didn't work? My baby shower haha. The day was amazing but I just had to have some cake. I also was snacking pretty much all day so I just kind of picked a time to test and went with it. I was at 146. Not good but I also kind of thought it'd be higher.
Any tips or tricks you found this week? Avoid cake. And to exercise. The weather is getting nicer here so maybe a walk outside will help. I'm still controlling my GD with diet as there's no real reason for meds.
GTKY: what brand/type of diapers will you be using? Any particular reason? I have a variety to try. Pampers Swaddlers or Sensitive for NB. I have some Huggies and Luvs too. I've heard good things about Pampers over the other two brands but I won't know until I try.
