I am taking a good prenatal vitamin prescribed by my doctor that contains a good amount of folic acid. Should I be taking an extra folic acid? I've heard of some women doing this. Has anyone done this?
600-800mcg should be in your prenatal. It is one of the vitamins where you just pee out extra, buuuuut folic acid can cause constipation. I'm sticking to 600mcg and eating plenty of iron in my diet (green leafy veggies and lean red meat) because I have had some horrible constipation!
