Hey!!!!
I'm Fly106. Been trying to conceive since July 2012. To say that my DH and I were shocked to discover we had TTTC is an understatement. Not because we thought we were above anyone who did but because after 12 years of planning and timing everything, this had become the one thing that didn't come to us in our time....reality struck, sometimes there are some things you can't control.
At first, we weren't really worried. We blamed it on everything from not "doing it" enough to weight issues on my part but after 2 years with no baby and me worrying about my clock, we decided to approach it differently. I got tested for every hormone and condition imaginable. All tests come out fine. It never dawned on us that there might be other issues until my GYN recommended my DH get SA. That is when we found out he had low sperm, motility and morph. This was really hard on him because of the obvious and because he's always been so pro health and fitness. What could've caused this, was what he kept asking himself. All his health decisions were based on what could be right for his body and well being.
DH first visited an urologist, who suggested him getting US for Varicocele (negative) and hormonal tests which came out fine. He then decided to prescribe Clomid for 6 months. His sperm count only improved by 1,000. That is when we were referred to RE.
We've been visiting RE since late Oct. 2014. After our initial visit, we found out I have PCOS, were told that based on DH's numbers our only option until that point was IVF and RE prescribed him Femara for 3 months to see if the #'s improved. On our second visit (3 months later), DH's count improved from 800,000 to 10,000,000 and were given the green light to start the process for IUI. I was put on Femara for 5 days and had to go a week after to have US.
Third visit was last week and it turns out Femara didn't grow my follicules to desired size (only 10mm). I started spotting on the 5th day and was still spotting during that visit. RE said spotting for that long wasn't normal and decided to switch me to Clomid 100mg for an additional 5 days. Last pill was on Monday, spotting has stopped and now I'm waiting to have another US done this Friday. If that doesn't work I'll have to start on injections.
I'm trying to take it easy and be positive. So far, I had done pretty well but after overcoming what I thought was the biggest hurdle (DH's count), all the getting follicules to desired size failure has started to affect me....

Re: New and still TTC at 35...
I wonder if everyone is surprised when they don't get pregnant right away. It's funny, I was so always so health conscious and anti-hormones. I even had a copper IUD bc I didn't want the hormones of bc pills in my body, yet here I am, having injected enough hormones in my stomach and ass to kill a small horse-or at least impregnate one!
Clomid is tough, so cut yourself some slack. Don't get discouraged, everyone on this board is understanding, supportive and informative. I hope your stay here is short and sweet.
