Spicy foods for LO?

So, I've given my DD some various spices: paprika, yellow curry, basil, Rosemary, etc. but when can we start giving them spicier food, like chili powder or salsa? Anybody tried yet?

Re: Spicy foods for LO?

  • Mine were all eating Mexican and Indian well before the age of one. In fact, LO just had butter chicken yesterday, 2 servings of it!

  • Mine couldn't shovel buffalo chicken in fast enough the other day. It was spicier then I like... Didn't seem to impact her bowels negatively.
  • DS loves flavor.  He's had curry chicken, tandoori, chili, taco seasoning.  I'm sure there are more.  We just give him whatever we're eating.

  • We've definitely done chili and tacos and she usually seems to like it. I haven't tried buffalo chicken yet bc I'm afraid she'll cry if it's too spicy.
  • We've given lo taco seasoning and chili seasoning. He loves it. But I made a honey sesame chicken that had red pepper flake and he didn't like it.

  • Last night DD had chicken with country sweet and pepperoni.. other than some black pepper on her eggs, that is as spicy as we have gotten

  • When you give your Los chicken, what form do you give them?
  • I've given DD chicken strips, breast, and ground. We started plain, then gave her a spice at a time, and now we try combos, like Greek flavored chicken with cucumber yogurt, and BBQ (sweet sauce) shredded chicken. I generally make my own taco seasoning, but any time I've made any for hers I have left out the chili powder. Sounds like we should be good to go though, thanks to y'all's experiences!
  • We've given LO Thai food, Indian food, and Mexican food--and he's loved all of the spicy things!

For chicken, I just usually cut it into small squares whether it was roasted, sautéed, etc.
  • LO is currently chowing down on Indian food--the butter chicken sauté sauce from target. I've not seen him eat so voraciously in a while! Must hit the spot.
  • We had Indian tonight too! It was pretty spicy, but he seemed to like it. DH cleared away his very messy water cup, but LO kept snacking on bits on his tray. After a while he started doing weird moves with his tongue - I think the spice was getting to him. Got him some more water, he gulped it down and was fine.
